1967 Mustang Fuel Tank Area

Have you noticed that your 1967 Mustang's fuel gauge isn't quite lining up with what's actually in your tank? Or have you noticed signs of a leak, like a strong gas smell while you're driving? If so, it's time to look at your fuel tank and components.

Fuel for Your Mustang

Unfortunately for classic Mustangs, the fuel tank is one of the areas that's most susceptible to rust. That means that most restorations involve replacing the 1967 Mustang fuel tank. Factory replacement fuel tanks are available that offer a direct fit. These replacements even come with the fuel sending unit and associated gaskets and hardware.

The sending unit is the part to blame if your gauge and tank aren't lining up. If that's the only issue with your Ford Mustang fuel tank, you can purchase the sending units separately.

If you're burning through fuel and tired of stopping for gas, you can also get a larger fuel tank. By replacing your 1967 Mustang 16-gallon with a 22 you'll be able to drive further between fill-ups.
