1967 Transmission

Without a properly functioning transmission, your 1967 Mustang isn't going far. If you've noticed slipping or rough gear changes, then it's time to consider working on your 1967 Ford Mustang transmission. Some transmissions can be fixed with just a little maintenance work. If all you need is a new clutch, then a good Mustang clutch kit will have you back on the road in no time. Other 1967 Mustang transmissions may need to be replaced.

Put Power Down to the Pavement

Your 1967 Mustang transmission is one of the more complex parts of your Mustang's drivetrain. But many parts are designed to be easy to work on. Changing out your flywheel (or flexplate if you have an automatic) is one way to keep an old Mustang transmission operating correctly. Replacing gaskets that have started leaking is also a good maintenance procedure.

If you think you'll want more power in your future, then it may be worthwhile to invest in a new transmission now. Full 1967 Mustang automatic and manual transmission are available and ready to mount. This is a great option if you've just gotten a new crate engine for your '67.

Replacing some of your stock transmission components is also a great way to improve your performance. Stock flywheels and flexplates can be heavy. By swapping these parts out for lighter aftermarket versions you'll be able to save valuable pounds.
