1970 Mustang Mid-Pipes
Find Your 1970 Mustang's Perfect Exhaust Note with Mid-Pipes
1970 Mid-Pipes
If you're revamping your 1970 Mustang's exhaust system, you'll need to decide which mid-pipe is the right fit for you. X-pipes, h-pipes, and y-pipes all offer several benefits.
Find the Right Mid-Pipe
Whether you’re driving on the track or out on the open road, mid-pipes play a crucial role in transporting exhaust from your engine out the back of your car. If exhaust isn't handled efficiently, it can create backpressure.
The x-pipe is the freest flowing mid-pipe type. But many classic Mustang owners prefer the sound and low-end torque that can be had with an h-pipe. Though h-pipes create some backpressure, this is by design, and that backpressure helps create the kind of torque you need to launch your Mustang.
Your mid-pipe will also affect the other exhaust components you select. It's important to find headers that will work well with your mid-pipe. When you've picked the right exhaust pieces, you'll get the performance and sound that you're looking for.
