One possible way that you may need to replace your 1973 Mustang alternator can be detected in your car’s startup process. When you put your key in the ignition and turn it only to hear a clicking sound, this is an indication of a problem with the battery. However, if you turn your key and hear no clicking noise, and the engine does not start, try turning on your headlights. If your headlights come on, but your engine fails to start, then this is a problem with the alternator.
