Although the factory exhaust on the 2017 Raptor looks and sounds great, factory exhausts are just not okay here at CJ's. Today we're going to make our Raptor breathe and sound even better by installing this Borla Atak Mid-Section Assembly. This Borla Atak Mid-Section Muffler Assembly would directly replace the factory mid-section with a pair of Borla Atak Mufflers, which will be significantly louder than the factory exhaust while saving a bit of money with your exhaust upgrade by letting you reuse the factory tailpipes. It comes with everything you need for an easy installation so today we're going to install it on our 2017 F150 Raptor.

The tools you'll need for this installation, a lift or a jack and jack stands, 10 millimeter socket, 13 millimeter socket, 3/8 ratchet, 10 millimeter wrench, 15 millimeter socket, and a 1/2 inch ratchet. We actually had an aftermarket exhaust in this truck already. We have it completely removed. Now with everything out of the way, we're going to install our new Borla X-Pipe. All right, you're going to slide the Borla X-Pipe into place, line it up with the flange on the downpipe, then install the factory bolts. You don't need to make these bolts tight, just get them installed so the X-Pipe does not fall down.

With the X-Pipe in place, we're going to now install the extension pipes with the clamps. Now place two more clamps over the extension pipes. All right, now we're going to install the muffler assembly. This will be a little tricky just because it's not the lightest thing in the world, get the hangers on the brackets, and slide it into place. Now we're going to give this a few taps just to make sure it's seated fully. Making sure that it's all the way forward. Now place the remaining clamps on the muffler assembly. Now we can install the tailpipes. In case you didn't already remove the rear tailpipe hangers, you do need to remove them to install the tailpipes with this kit. Get the tailpipe all the way in then reinstall the hangers.

We'll start off with the bumper hanger, get it into place, then install the factory hardware. Then the hanger that mounts to the frame. Install the factory hardware. Tighten it down then repeat the process for the other tailpipe. When you tighten the rear hanger bracket, make sure it's parallel with the tow hitch. Get the other tailpipe in place. Reinstall both hangers on the tailpipe. Once you get both hangers tightened up, you can now tighten all the clamps. We'll start off by tightening up the flange. For this clamp on the very front and for the rest of the clamps, they're 15 millimeter. Just tighten them all down, starting from the front, and then work your way back. Then finally, the two on the muffler assembly that connect to the tailpipe. And your installation's finished.

All right, let's hear it. All right, so at idle, you can't really tell that there's an aftermarket exhaust back there. It's not that loud. Right now we're at 800/900 RPMs and you can't really hear it and I have nothing on right now, no radio, no nothing. If you have your radio on at all, you're not even going to notice that you have an aftermarket exhaust back there, but when you get on it, you certainly hear it. Take it all the way up through the RPMs so you can get a good feel of what it sounds like. Yeah, all right, first gear, we'll match the throttle. Yes, third, fourth, so good. That sounds really good. Pop it into drive, see what it sounds like at cruising.

Right now, we're going 60 miles an hour. We're in 10th gear and it is practically silent. You can't even tell there's an aftermarket exhaust back there. It's not going to kill your ears on a long drive. It's absolutely beautiful. You get the best of both worlds, nice and loud when you want it, but when you don't, it's nice and quiet. I like it. Our Borla Atak Mid- Section Exhaust is installed. It definitely gave our Raptor a very aggressive tone. It's significantly louder than the factory exhaust. Installation's pretty straightforward. It should only take about 2 hours and before you know it, you'll be heading off-road.
