Installation Videos
Video Transcript
For this installation, you'll need a jack and jack stands or lift, exhaust insulator removal tool, 3/8th ratchet, 17 millimeter shallow socket, impact gun, 10 millimeter socket, 13 millimeter socket, 15 millimeter socket, 6 inch extension, and safety glasses.
Now that we have our Raptor up in the air, you can see the factory exhaust system. We've got this canister up here, probably the biggest muffler I've ever seen back here. I'm sure this is restricted to our 6.2 liter, let's get it out of the way to install our new exhaust system. You'll want to spray some penetrating lubricant on all of these bolts, and the hanger to remove the factory exhaust system. We're going to start by disconnecting the factory exhaust system from the factory Y-Pipe.
Now we're ready to remove the stock system from the car. Due to the size and the weight of the system, this is a good time to have a helper hold the system up while you disconnect it. You need a pry bar. We're going to use this exhaust donut tool to make it a little bit easier. Greg, you want to grab the back?
We're going to slide the system back, get it off the rear hangers, and bring it up over the axle. Put it over there. We're going to start by installing the front intermediate pipe. We're just going to get the bolts started for now, you don't want to tighten everything up just yet.
Now we're ready to hang the muffler. We're going to spray a little lubricant inside the insulators. Make sure you slide the clamp on before. Now we're going to tighten the clamp down. Not all the way, but just enough to hold it in place. Before we install the tailpipe, we're going to put the clamps over our muffler. Now we'll grab the tailpipe.
Try to put the tailpipe in with the rear mount. It gets really close to the tire. Two options here to get it installed: you either pull the tire off, or you've got to remove the mount. We're going to go with the mount. We're going to slide the mount on and put it up over the rear. The front piece here ... we'll get it into place, and we'll bolt it back on.
Now we're going to connect the muffler to our tailpipes. And we're going to tighten up our clamps. Now we'll tighten up the intermediate clamp. Now we'll tighten up our front intermediate pipe.
Our last step is going to be to install our exhaust tips. Exhaust tips are left and right specific when looking at the car. The right one is going to go towards the front, the left one towards the rear. Let's put your clamps in place, we can slide them on. Get them lined up, and tighten down your clamps. And our installation is finished. This was the stock exhaust on a Raptor. And now, the Ford Racing.
Thanks to Ford Racing, our Raptor sounds as aggressive as it looks. The polished tips are a nice improvement over the stock ones as well. Installation should take you no more than about two hours, so you'll be back on the road in no time. For this exhaust, and more parts for your SVT Raptor, check out CJPonyParts.com.
