This K&N cold air intake comes with a high density polyethylene intake tube with a massive pre oiled filter and a heat shield that will out flow the factory intake to give you an increase of up to 23 horsepower while being street legal in all 50 states. It's going to be a super easy install so, today we're going to throw it on our 2016 EcoBoost F-150.
Tools you'll need for this installation: a flat head screwdriver, a pair of cutters or a razor blade, and a five 30 seconds hex key.
Installing this intake is pretty easy. The first thing we're going to do is remove the factory air box and Y plate and to do that, all you'll need is a flat head screw driver. Undo the clips on the air box. Remove the sensor on the intake plate and remove the top clamp on the Y plate. Then, remove the hose clamp that's on the bottom of the Y plate. Now, the air box and Y plate can be removed.
With the factory intake off, we're going to remove the intake temperature sensor from the factory tube and move it to the K and N tube. Rotate the sensor counter clockwise and remove it. Remove the blue O ring from the sensor. Install the provided grommet into the K&N tube. With the grommet installed you can now install the sensor.
Now, we're going to install the edge trim that's provided onto our air box. We're going to flip the air box over, just cut it in half with a razor blade. Once the trim is cut, if you want, you can use the provided super glue and put a dab of super glue on the trim then install it onto the edges of the air box. Grab the larger weather stripping and put this all around the perimeter on the top of the air box.
We can now install the filter adaptor onto the heat shield with the provided hardware. Tighten the bolts with a five 30 seconds hex key. Install the filter then tighten it with a flat head screwdriver. This can now go in the truck.
Install the air filter assembly. Snap the clips. Install the coupler with the ridge in the middle and the two hose clamps onto the filter assembly. Install the provided clamps on both intake tubes, the top one and bottom one. Once all the clamps are in place, install the Y pipe with the couplers and clamps. Tighten the final hose clamps. Finally, plug in the intake sensor and your installation is finished.
Our K&N intake is installed. It's going to flow way more than the factory unit and help our EcoBoost breath a lot better. It looks better than the factory unit too and installation is pretty easy. It should only take you about an hour and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
