The 429s offered in the 1968-1973 Mustangs have become legends of the old Ford big-block V8s. The 460 offered an even larger displacement. These massive engines are a great choice for camshaft and valvetrain upgrades.

Check out performance camshafts from COMP Cams and Edelbrock. Each offers a performance level from mild to aggressive, as well as optimized RPM ranges.

Choose individual camshafts or packages that come with all the parts you'll need. You can get a timing chain set, lifters, and valve springs all in the same box. If you opt for Edelbrock’s all-in-one top-end kit, you'll get new cylinder heads and head gaskets, too.

As with any performance overhaul, it’s helpful to go from back-to-front. Consider installing performance exhaust upgrades before you cam your engine.
