The wheel cylinder is an extremely important part of your Bronco's drum brake system since this is what forces the brake shoes into the drum to slow down and eventually stop using friction. A wheel cylinder is made up of two pistons with one on each side of the cylinder. Each piston on the wheel cylinder has a shaft with a rubber seal that connects the piston to a brake shoe inside the drum. Once the brakes are applied, the wheel cylinder's pistons are forced outwards to push the shoes against the drum.
