How to Remove a Bronco Hard Top (2021+ Bronco)

Bronco Hard Top Removal Instructions

The only tools and supplies you'll need to remove your Bronco's hard top come with the vehicle. This is a super easy install that will only take a few minutes to complete. See the list below for the exact tools you'll need

Parts and Tools Needed:

  • 10mm Socket
  • T-30 Hex Socket
  • T-50 Torx Bit
  • Ratchet
  • Triangular Bolt Tool

Step 1: Locate the Factory Tool Kit

Open the trunk of your Bronco and remove the central floor panel. The stock tools provided with your Bronco are underneath the panel. This includes a 10mm socket, a T-30 hex socket, a T-50 Torx bit, a ratchet, and a triangular bolt tool.

Step 2: Remove Front Driver's Side Roof Panel

Unhook the latch on the interior driver's side roof. Then, rotate the three L-brackets along the edge of the front hardtop panel. Once the panel is free, remove the front driver's side hard top. Repeat this process for the passenger's side panel.

Step 3: Remove Center Roof Panel

Similar to the front panel, unhook the latches on the inside of the Bronco, above the rear doors. Then, turn the L-brackets in the center of the panel to release it. Grab a second set of hands to help you and lift the center panel up, so you can remove it from the Bronco.

Step 4: Unplug Washer Nozzle and Wiring Harness

Locate the wiring harness and washer nozzle on the rear interior area of your Bronco. Unplug both of these connections by pushing the pin in the center of the harness and pulling down.

Step 5: Relocate Washer Nozzle and Wiring Harness Connection

Take the disconnected harness wire and washer nozzle and reconnect them at the alternate attachment points on the side of the Bronco, as pictured below.

Step 6: Unscrew Rear Hard Top Panel Bolts

Open both of the rear doors and climb to the top of your Bronco. Use a Torx bit to remove the T-50 bolt at the base of the rear panel. Remove the bolt in the same position on the other side of the Bronco.

Step 7: Remove Side-Cover Bolts

Head down to the cargo area and use a ratchet to remove the four T-50 bolts attached to the side-cover on both sides of the Bronco. Once the larger bolts are removed, unscrew the two T-30 bolts underneath. Repeat the process for both sides.

Step 8: Remove Rear Hard Top Section

Grab the hard top side-cover at the front and the rear below the window. Have a second person grab the cover in the same spot on the other side. Lift the Bronco top and raise it over the rear section of the frame.

Bronco Hard Top Reinstallation Instructions

Step 9: Align Rear Hard Top Section

Use two people to lift the rear hard top section over the rear frame. Center the alignment pins right next to the T-50 bolt holes at each of the four locations on the side panel. Drop the panel into position. Make sure both sides are equally aligned.

Step 10: Reinstall Side-Cover Bolts

Reinstall the T-30 and T-50 bolts on both sides of the Bronco side-cover using the corresponding Torx bit and a ratchet.

Step 11: Reattach Wiring Harness and Washer Nozzle to Factory Location

Push the center of the wiring harness to release the connection. Grab the wire and relocate it back to the factory port. Reconnect the wire and repeat the process for the washer nozzle.

Step 12: Reattach Hard Top Center Section

Have another person help you lift the center section onto the roof of your Bronco. Reinstall the T-50 bolts on either side of the hard top. Head inside the Bronco and flip the center latches and L-brackets to the locked position.

Step 13: Reattach Front Panel Sections

Lift the front passenger's side panel over the top of the Bronco and attach it to the roof. Once the panel is in position, turn the latches to the locked position. Then, turn the front L-brackets so they are in the locked position as well. Repeat this process for the driver's side panel. Make sure to do the passenger's side first, or the panels will not fit correctly.
