Right Hand Drive Mustang Parts

Right Hand Drive Mustang

While most Mustangs reside in the United States, a small minority live overseas, where they're driven on the left-hand side of the road. These nations need right-hand drive vehicles, but Ford never made a right-hand drive Mustang in the factory until the release of the 2015 Mustang. CJ Pony Parts got their hands on some parts that allow owners of early model Mustangs to make the switch on their ponies, along with some new modifications specifically designed for S550 Euro-Spec Mustangs.

Right Hand Drive

Many countries overseas need right-hand drive vehicles to safely drive down the left-hand side of the road. Australia is one country that requires right-hand-drive Mustangs by law, as does Great Britain, Japan, and many others. Since Ford has introduced the S550 platform to the world in 2015, it is the first time the Ford Mustang has gone completely global. Whether you're in the process of converting a classic over to the right-hand drive or searching for aftermarket parts on your S550 Mustang, CJ Pony Parts has the parts you need to get the job done right!

Right Hand Drive vs Left Hand Drive Mustang

Interior of Right Hand Drive Mustang

Beginning for the 2015 model year, Ford Motor Company began offering the Mustang to the global market in both a left-hand drive and right-hand drive version. Contrary to popular belief, there are various differences between the US and European versions of the S550 Mustang.

From an exterior standpoint on a Euro-spec Mustang, you'll immediately notice the clear taillights, larger side mirrors, two reverse lights and red rear fog light, lack of daytime running lights and silver performance package wheels (not gloss black). As you get more in touch with the right-hand drive Mustang, you'll see it doesn't have any hood vents and even the windshield wipers are reversed.

As you move towards the interior of the S550, you'll immediately notice the fact that everything is mirrored from the left-hand drive models. The steering wheel, gauge cluster, and headlight switch are all moved to the right side of the car. Even the turn signal and windshield wiper stalks are reversed. The start/stop button is also switched to the right side of the toggle switches.

When it comes to the performance of the two different models, there is a slight decrease of 6 horsepower when it comes to the Euro-spec GT. This is due to the redesign of the passenger side exhaust manifold that needed to allow room for the steering shaft on the opposite side of the car. Torque remains unchanged. It's crazy to think that from a manufacturing standpoint, both the US-spec and Euro-spec Mustang come out of the same plant!
