In this set the passenger side mirror says, "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear", however there is another kit where the mirror says, "Objects in mirror are losing." With no wiring necessary the plug-in play pigtail makes installation quick and easy and today we are going to be installing it on our 2015 eco-boost. For this installation you will need a flat head screwdriver, a T-15 torque bit, and needle nose pliers.
To do this install we need to remove the factory glass on the mirror. In order to remove the glass, we have to adjust it to get behind it so that we can pop it off. We're going to adjust the mirror all the way in so that we can easily get behind it. Now we're going to insert a flat head screwdriver behind the mirror and twist it to try to pop it out. Now we can take out the factory glass. Now to completely remove it, you have to disconnect the wires for the heater. Now we have to remove this outer trim. To do so there's two T-15 screws that we have to remove. Now we have to remove this outer trim piece. Get a small screwdriver and stick it in these holes to release the tabs. These are the tabs that you have to push with the screwdriver to release it. You want to get the screwdriver in like so and push down to pull this trim piece out. Now we're going to remove the adjuster to the mirror to get access to the wiring harness. Take off the adjuster and set it aside.
Now we're going to install the new wiring harness that is provided with the mirror. You have to disconnect the old harness. Pull it out. Take your new harness, plug it in and now this will plug into our new mirror.
We're now going to re-install the adjuster. Now before we install the outer trim panel, we're going to plug in our new mirror to the harness. Now with the mirror plugged in we can install the outer trim piece. Fit the heater wires through. Line up everything with the trim before you snap it in place. Now you can plug in the heater wires. Now that the trim piece is on and our mirror is connected, we can install the T-15 torque screws. Now we can take the mirror and line up the clips around the adjuster and push it on.
Now that the mirror is installed, double check that the turn signal is working and that you can adjust the mirror properly. Once it's working properly you can repeat the process on the other side and your installation is finished.
So we got the CDC sequential mirrors installed and they look great. They will add a little bit of safety. Installation should take you about an hour and before you know it you will be heading down the road.
