Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great I just recently purchased this product. I think it looks amazing. I watched the install video which seemed like it would go smooth. Took off the radiator cover and moved the hood latch out of the way. I removed the old emblem and collected the hardware that dropped. I purchased the kit so I had new hardware for the install. I put the pony up into place and put the hardware on with my fingers. When using the socket the hardware would not go any farther than halfway so it was extremely loose. When trying to push a little harder the first of three tabs broke. Then came the second. The third one I broke was with the pony off the car. Holding the pony in my hand I was still not able to push the hardware past halfway. Maybe using the old hardware would have been better. So I picked up some 3M emblem adhesive and installed it that way. Figured no reason to call CJ. Why didn't ford put studs on the back to just use nuts for the front emblem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great, but... We bought this for our 2016 Mustang, and even though CJ Pony Parts claims that the install is better, it really isn't. The little plastic "legs" still break easily. They are tapered, so the farther you push the washers on, the harder it gets, so you cannot really get that tight fit. We also found that we did not need to remove the hood latch and there was plenty of room to work. We ended up using a clear silicone to help make it solid. What we also don't understand is that this looks identical to the replacement black pony emblem for the Ecoboost/V6 etc. which comes with adhesive tape installation and is also $6.00 cheaper! It does look good though!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from FoMoCo Grille Pony This is the real deal replacement pony for my 2015 GT with FoMoCo molded into the back of the pony. HOWEVER, after I got my factory chrome pony off and positioned the new one into place it would not stay. The original pony had stretched the factory punched holes in the grille mount so much that an exact replacement would not seat properly. The pegs need to be molded larger IF this is a replacement pony. The R&D department really dropped the ball on this one. So instead of buying a new grille to place this black beauty in I am going to have to go with 3M outdoor doubled sided tape. You'll need to get the really REALLY thick stuff though because doubling or tripling up the regular tape is not enough to cover the required gap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great. Followed the video instructions, have a couple of suggestions, Put a couple of microfiber or shop towels down below on the body pan. When you break the pins of the chrome pony they fall down and take off rolling or bouncing to parts unknown the towels should catch them. I was only able to recover two of them (even with a lighted magnet). The pins on the new part appear to be a little bigger than the original and when trying to push them on broke off the pin. Use a punch to slightly enlarge the hole and test fit. That solved the problem. (It always looks easier on the videos)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Black horse! I had a black running horse on my last Stang so I wanted one for my 2015 GT. It fit fine and looks great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice accent A little overpriced for what it is. Requires additional fasteners (not included) that can only be installed after removing the front fascia. The alternative is adhesive. Because of the gaps between the back of the emblem and the mounting surface on the grille I opted to use rtv silicone which worked. However, the emblem must be held against the surface during curing. Tape was too weak to hold it properly so I ran a zip tie through the holes in the grille and that worked to keep it secured.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite as described but still nice First of all - this is not matte black. I am OK with that since I think matte black would look like any other plasti-dipped emblem. My car is black so this goes nicely with the paint job on the car. This looks more factory than matte black would for sure. Installation was not as simple as pop the old out and pop the new in. I removed the shroud over the radiator first. This proved to be pointless as you cannot reach the front grille from there (2015 Ecoboost). I ended up poking my fingers through the grille to break off the tabs holding the factory emblem in place. I then used a plastic pry tool to pop out the old emblem. The description makes it seem like this new emblem snaps right in. However, this is not the case. It is a perfect fit but there is nothing to hold it in place. I had hope the alignment tabs would "snap" into place to hold the new emblem to the grill. They do not. I had to use heavy-duty black double back tape to keep the emblem in place. I cut small pieces to fit in nose, tail, and feet of the pony to be sure I had appropriate coverage. Obviously you should avoid covering any of hte 4 holes the alignment tabs need to go into. Hopefully this holds up to inclement weather and car washes. None of the double back tape is exposed, so it should be sealed well enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, but make sure to tape it on The black grill pony looks great, but installation was not easy. Removal of the old was simple. Just break the tabs. Installation did not go well. The tabs on the new pony broke when I tried installing the retainers. I broke 2 and decided to use double sided emblem tape instead. I cleaned the back of the pony and the grill with isopropyl alcohol, taped the perimeter of the horse, and stuck it on.

Listed in the description it says matte black. Install vidieo shows more of a gloss black. I know fords black appearance package on the new 16s look gloss black. Just need to know before ordering thank you

Asked by: Diego
It's more of a Satin Black. There's some shine, but it's not high gloss. And it's also not completely matte black. More of a Semi-Gloss Finish. We will update the description. Thank you.

How do you remove the factory silver pony emblem? Do you need to remove the grille or does the factory emblem pop out from the front? Will removing the factory emblem damage it (ie. plastic pins etc.)? Thanks.

Asked by: MikeG302
Pop the hood then remove the radiator shroud, it will also make it a lot easier to access the area if you remove the hood latch assembly. Slide your hand down behind the grille and feel around on the back side for the 4 plastic pins. The ends of these pins can be snapped off with minimal effort. After you remove the pins, push outward on the remaining portion of the pins until you can slowly pull the pony out from the front of the grille. Also you can refer to our newly uploaded installation video.

Just placed my order, but curious, once the original chrome pony is removed, does this one simply mount with backing tape?

Asked by: DarkHorse302
The product description has since been updated and an installation video has been added. We have also made available the hardware necessary to properly install this emblem. See P/N HW1002.
