Product Description

Hooker Competition Black Longtube Headers for 1967-1970 Mustangs with a 351 Cleveland 4V Engine and an Automatic or Manual Transmission.

Hooker Competition Headers offer the best value in the high performance header market. Designed for the value conscious buyer who is running either a stock or mildly-modified engine, Hooker Competition Headers offer premium features at a very competitive price.

Made of durable 16-gauge mild steel tubing, the Hooker Competition header design utilizes a long transition collector to reduce back pressure and increase exhaust flow. A perfect sealing surface is assured with the 5/16" machined flanges, with welded O-ring seals. Experience has proven that this flange size is ideal to maintain header integrity and be pliable enough to seal each exhaust port. Tubing is mandrel-bent to maintain metal strength and provide consistent tube diameter at radii to maximize performance.

Hooker Competition Headers have a standard finish that features a heat-cured, high-heat resistant paint. Optionally, the famous Hooker Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating is available.

*A custom made intermediate pipe/h-pipe is required. Headers feature 1-3/4" primaries and 3" collectors.
*EXHD55 Does NOT fit 351 Cleveland 2V heads or 351 Windsor engines.

Hooker Comp LonGTube Headers Black 351 Cleveland 4V 1967-1970 is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Someday I'll get rid of them. I bought these headers with the ceramic coating years ago and I still run them today. I would not recommend them. CONS: The flanges don't seal well to stock 4v heads: this is because the head port is larger than the area of the header dedicated to sealing the port and they sometimes don't even overlap. With the best gaskets and stage 8 bolts I have leaks. The overall fit in the car is questionable, the passenger header tube contacts the idler arm, once installed it is very difficult to correct. The extra long bracket for power steering ram drop tends to rip the nut-serts out of the frame. The headers use an exit path that is about 4" wider than stock, meaning that the collectors rub on the floor pans and frame rails, completely avoiding the stock exhaust reliefs and requiring the use of a hair-brained sized custom H pipe. I used exhaust hangers and the my new H pipe to force 1/8" clearance. Finally, they hang so low on the car that I had to undo my 1" lowering springs so that normal driveways and speed bumps wouldn't be an issue. Several years later, the headers have seen plenty of hard hits. PROS: the design awakened a healthy power increase and took my humble 351 to a new level. It also brought a new exhaust note that I find quite pleasant on my ears. THE BOTTOM LINE: this is a product that would benefit from a major design rework. If you have time to rework and modify the part, or you care about power over finish, this is the header for you. I can't wait to take them off.
