Idler Arm 1971-1973

Product Description

Idler Arm for all 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs.

If you have noticed a decrease in ride quality and drastically increased tire wear, perhaps it is time to revamp and update the components of your 1971-1973 Mustang’s manual steering system. No one wants to ride in a bumpy and rough ride with wild steering issues and a new idler arm like this one can help eliminate those issues and the excessive vibrations you might be feeling. This Idler Arm for all 1971, 1972 and 1973 Mustangs is a direct fit replacement that will help heighten the manual steering’s responsiveness and accuracy and keep the center link where it is meant to be.

The idler arm attaches at the one end of the center link on the passenger’s side of the vehicle and this assembly comes with the bushings, hardware and mounting bracket included. The other side of the idler arm bolts directly to the vehicle's frame rail. Typically, the idler arm is attached on the opposite side of the center link from the pitman arm and the vehicle's frame which allows it to hold the center link at the proper height. This Idler Arm Assembly will fit any 1971-1973 Mustang with manual steering and comes ready to install directly in place of the stock arm with a straight forward, headache-free installation.

Idler arms generally break down and become unstable more quickly than pitman arms because of the pivot function that is built into them. It is a good idea to replace this component of your steering system because after years of use and stress, its integrity is likely compromised. A worn out idler arm can lead to poor ride quality, unpleasant vibrations and unpredictable, uneven steering abilities in your 1971, 1972 or 1973 Mustang.

*Mounting hardware is sold separately.

If the stock manual steering system in your Mustang has become less responsive, is malfunctioning completely or you just want to make a conversion from manual to power steering, or vice versa, CJ Pony Parts has got you covered. Ordering any of the more than 500 steering parts here at CJ Pony Parts for any year Mustang is so simple—you can order online right now or give the sales team a call any time to place your order!

This is identical to the Power Steering unit we took off our 73. Try to find a new ps unit anywhere, they will send you the wrong one. ( has happened 3 times already) . It says manual steering only, but we are ordering it. RU sure it won't fit ps models?
