Which is louder? Magnalow Axleback Competition or Magnaflow Street Catback?
Will this system also fit on a 2012 GT/CS?
I have the MBRP street catback, will the MagnaFlow axle-back fit the H-pipe from the MBRP catback.
I talked with an authorized Magnaflow dealer and he tells me that the later Magnaflow axle backs have been redesigned to also fit the convertible. Can you confirm this and if so I will be ordering them from CJ.
How loud is this compare to the magnaflow cat-back street series??

The kit includes two mandrel-bent tail pipe extensions, a pair of Magnaflow's Competition series polished mufflers, leading to a set of four inch polished tips. All clamps necessary for installation are included. With an axle-back system you will have to cut the factory axle-back off. Even though you're probably familiar with it, let's start with the stock exhaust system for the 2015 Mustang GT. Again not bad sounding for a factory system but we know we can do better.
For this installation we need lift or a jack and jack stands, 1/2-inch impact gun or 1/2-inch ratchet, 13 mm socket, 15 mm socket, short extension, measuring tape, marker, Sawzall and safety glasses.
While the Cat-back is a bolt on piece that's going to go all the way forward, the axle-back will require cutting. Basically you're going to go back through here, you're going to measure from this hanger, you're going to cut the pipe off right here and bolt on our new Magnaflow axle-back. What you're going to do is measure 9 inches from the end of this welded hanger, down to this curved to flat section and that's where we're going to cut. Once you make you mark, double check your measurement and you're ready to cut. Once you have the muffler cut, the easiest way we found to get it off is simply remove this hanger here. Once you unbolt this you can slide it off the rear hanger.
Once you have the exhaust off you can go ahead and reinstall the factory hanger. Now we're going to install the Magnaflow tail pipe extension. It's going to go into place, it's going to slide over the pipe you just cut. It'll be hold in place by a clamp. When you slide it on it's going to go about that far on. That gives you an idea how much room you have with your cut. Don't worry about the cut being exact, as long as you're within about an inch you'll be fine. I'm going to slide the clamp onto our Magnaflow pipe and slide it up into place. Leave the clamp loose for now. We're going to put the muffler on next. Leave everything loose and then once we have it lined up right where we want it, we'll tighten it down.
Now grab on of the larger three inch clamps, slide it over, put this up into place. We're going to start with the hanger in the back and then we'll connect to the pipe. Once you have it lined up right where you want it, go back and tighten down both clamps. Repeat the process on the other side.
Now that we've made it through the installation, let's see how it sounds. Much better. Much deeper tone than the factory system. It's not quite as loud as the Cat-back was for obvious reasons. The factory resonator's still in place but it sounds really good and gives our 2015 a nice deep tone.
We're out on the road now with the Magnaflow axle-back and saw to get an idea what it's going to sound like for normal daily driving. Cruising speeds, honestly, you really barely hear it. It's louder than stock, not obtrusive in the cabin at all. It sounds real good. Right now we're doing about 60 miles and hour with a 373s returning just under two grand. No drone at all. It's got a nice sound to it. It's deep, you know it's there, definitely not overbearing, very nice system, especially for a daily drive if you're not looking for a drony exhaust.
Even though we had to cut our factory system off, the installation of Magnaflow's axle-back wasn't bad at all. The Competition series sound great outside the car and inside the car because the factory resonator is still in place, it's actually not that loud at all. It gives you a real nice deep tone. Installation is pretty straightforward, probably take you around an hour and you'll be back on the road in no time.
