Mustang Back Up Light Kit (1967-1968) Installation Instructions
1. To starting installing your new
Mustang Back Up Light Kit, remove the old back up lights. To do so, unplug the two pronged connectors on the back of each back up light assembly from the wiring harness. Then, remove the nuts that hold the back up light assemblies (two per lighting assembly) from the inside of the rear valance. This may be a challenge if your Mustang is as rusted and corroded as mine. Note, the two screws on the front of the light assembly do not have to be removed. They retain the lens for easy replacement of the bulb.
2. Open the new back up lights and inventory all parts. There are screw posts on the back of the light enclosures, but the kit doesn’t come with nuts. If the old ones aren't salvageable, you might need to order new
Mustang back up light and parking light nuts.
4. Simply install the new lights by tightening the two nuts per assembly.
5. Fish the two conductor pigtails through the openings beneath the trunk and secure the rubber grommets through the openings.
