Product Description

Scott Drake 3-1/2" Wide Plastic Fan Shroud for 1965-1966 260/289 Mustangs.

This new & improved fan shroud from Scott Drake is for the 65-66 8-cylinder Mustangs and is efficient in drawing in cool air through the radiator at low speeds and idle, which is when most overheating occurs. This shroud is 3 1/2" wide.

Not only does this larger shroud greatly enhance cooling capabilities, it also offers more protection from the fan blades. Made from ABS plastic.

*65-66 6-cylinder Mustangs can use this shroud with minor trimming.
*Fan shroud brackets sold separately.

Scott Drake Fan Shroud Plastic 3-1/2" Wide 260/289 1965-1966 is rated 3.75 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit a six The shroud is represented as being able to fit a six cylinder with minor trimming. I found this not to be true. While the length was ok ,except for the fact if your car is an automatic the shroud is directly in the way of the transmission lines. The width of the shroud is approximately 2 1/2 inches to wide. I guess if you were in desperate need of a shroud, and didn't mind MAJOR MODIFICATION. You could make it work. I don't need one that bad and for that reason I am returning it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works, but needs work This shroud does the job, but it could be better designed and marketed. First, it comes with no instructions, and requires a special set of mounting brackets. They also come with no instructions, so you have to figure it out yourself. Although the radiator is currently held in place with four symmetrically square holes, two on each side, the shroud holes are not symmetrical. They are offset upwards on the passenger side and downwards on the driver side. The brackets are what do the offset. The offset is there I guess to allow you to get a socket wrench in to attach the underlying radiator-to-frame bolts. But the brackets are thin, flexible metal and bend/distort easy when you attach the fan shroud, which is of flexible black ABS plastic. Odds are that when you finally get the shroud in place, the blades will be touching at some spot, as the bracket alignment and shroud flexibility guarantee some misalignment and out-of-roundness. The four holes on the shroud which hold the shroud to the brackets are elongated vertically, but not enough. In my case, I had to get a drill bit and elongate them even more vertically to allow enough up and down movement of the shroud to keep it away from the fan blades. Fortunately it is soft plastic and reams out easily. Also, even for my three row radiator, the three-row brackets are a little too long and initially placed the shroud 1/4 to 1/8 inch away from the radiator, shaking like crazy. You may need to bend the brackets to reduce the space between the two ears to bring the shroud up against the radiator. A better design would have been to keep the shroud mounting holes in square symmetrical alignment with the radiator mounting holes/bolts and use a long common bolt to hold both the radiator and the shroud in rigid alignment. If I were Scott Drake, I would redesign this to mount better and easier. It would not take much effort. I would also include instructions and/or a video to show how to make adjustments.

Could you tell me which brackets should I buy to fit this Shroud???

Asked by: impacto3
Depends on how many rows your radiator is - there are different kits for 2-row, 3-row and 4-row radiators, each linked from the bottom of this product page.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to install this on a Falcon.  I have a '65 Falcon wagon that has no shroud.  It has a stock style radiator and the factory 289.  The engine compartment looks just like a '65 Mustang.

Asked by: Jastang
Not sure. We haven't tested it on a Falcon, so we can't say either way whether it would work or not.
