For over 30 years Scott Drake has produced high-quality Ford-licensed restoration parts for your Mustang.
Starting off with the Trunk Weatherstrip he made while still in high school for a shop teacher, today Scott Drake offers over 9,000 products making them the largest manufacturer of Mustang restoration parts around.
Currently based in Henderson, Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas, Scott Drake is expanding his restoration line to include late model Mustang parts under the Drake Muscle Cars name.
Today let's take a closer look at some of their products and the attention to detail Scott Drake puts into them.
Here we have a pair of reproduction kick panels for a '67 through '68 Mustang Coupe or Fastback. On this side here we have our standard reproduction; this is the Scott Drake piece here. You might be thinking it's only a plastic panel how different can they really be, but it's the details that's going to make the difference.
You take a look at your reproduction panel, you see it does have a texture to it but the texture's not correct for a Mustang. Take a look at the material itself; it's a very rigid plastic. Part of the Scott Drake where contour's normally correct, the plastic is much heavier grade and flexible like the original. On this close-up, if you can really see the contour difference between our Scott Drake piece and our standard reproduction. Just like the original, contours are very, very smooth on the Drake where they're very abrupt on the reproduction. This carries throughout the entire piece and across the center as well.
When installing your Scott Drake Kick Panels you'll be very happy for these reinforced bosses that are behind the mounting holes. Scott Drake pre-drills all their Kick Panels to make it much easier to install them. Compare that to your standard reproduction, putting only one small boss here, no hole drilled, and in the top there's no boss or hole. It could be a problem when you put it in because it could very easily crack the plastic.
The top of our Kick Panel you can see the section where the windlace actually comes in to the panel. If you look at the Drake piece the contour follows exactly the way the factory was designed. Look at our aftermarket, it's much larger that it needs to be, result in a little bit of a loose fit.
If you're looking for the best fitting, highest quality parts for either your restoration or your late model Mustang, make sure you check out our selection of Scott Drake products.
