1967 X-Pipes

What’s the Difference Between an H-pipe and an X-pipe?

They both have similar functions. They are both designed to even out pulses from exhaust for an equal, streamlined flow. However, they do this in different ways.

An H-pipe has a connecting pipe between the two, which allows for cross flow and equalization as needed. On the other hand, an X-pipe purposely crosses the exhaust streams while it evens out and streamlines the flow. They also produce very different exhaust tones. H-pipes are known for creating that deep, classic, muscle car rumble, whereas X-pipes are known for having a higher pitch and smoother tonal quality.

1967 Mustang X-Pipe Key Features:

• Smoother bends in exhaust allows for exhaust pulses to exit efficiently
• Louder and raspier at higher revolutions per minute
• More horsepower at higher revolutions per minute
• Higher in pitch, with smoother, more refined tone at lower revolutions per minute
