1979 Mustang Brakes

Wherever you drive your 1979 Mustang, you need brakes that are built to hold up to high speeds, heavy braking, and whatever else the road can throw at you. Upgrading your brakes makes sure you have the stopping power you need when you need it.

The brakes on your 1979 Mustang are one of the most important parts of your build. As you upgrade your engine power, you'll want to improve your braking power to keep pace.

Basic maintenance, like bleeding your brake lines and replacing brake pads, will keep your Mustang's braking as crisp as it was from the factory. But if you need more stopping power, there are several upgrades you can look at.

Even just investing in a better set of brake pads or rotors can improve your stopping power substantially. But if you still have your factory drum brakes, then upgrading to disc brakes should be your first brake modification. It'll make regular maintenance easier and improve your stopping power. If you make the conversion with a 5-lug kit, you'll also increase the number of aftermarket wheels that will work on your Fox Body, giving you new options.

Looking for a different Fox Body Mustang year? Try one of these: 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, or 1993 for additional options.
