2013 Mustang Headlights

While it’s common for a car manufacturer to keep the same body style for five to six years before a complete redesign and overhaul, they will still introduce subtle new changes and improvements in the current model as time progresses. An example of this type of change and improvement can be seen in the 2013 Mustang headlights. In 2013, Ford did away with their standard halogen headlights and introduced high-intensity discharge headlights as a standard feature on the 2013 Ford Mustang. Commonly referred to as HID or Xenon headlights, this style of headlights has often been an optional premium feature higher end vehicles. Mustang owners can expect to see three times more light produced by their 2013 Mustang headlights compared to the previous 2012 Mustang halogen style headlights.

2013 Headlights

Upgrading 2013 Mustang Headlights

Unlike upgrading a vehicle with traditional halogen style bulbs, you may find upgrading your 2013 Mustang headlights to be a little more limited in options. The 2013 Mustang headlights use a D3S bulb and come with a factory color of 4300K. This number refers to the color temperature of the bulb measured in units of Kelvin. As this number increases, the color temperature and hue of the bulb changes. For example, 3000K would appear golden yellow, much like what you would see on a fog light. Here are the common color temperatures and ratings found on HID bulbs:

• 3000K - Warm Yellow
• 4300K - Warm White
• 5000K - Pure White
• 6000K - Blue Tinge

Although the factory 2013 Mustang headlights use HID bulbs, the factory fog lamps are still using the old-fashioned halogen H11 bulb. Many Mustang owners choose to upgrade their factory fog bulbs in order to create a more uniform appearance between their headlights and fog lights. To enhance the appearance of your 2013 Mustang headlights, consider upgrading your factory halogen H11 fog bulbs to brighter and more efficient LED style bulbs.

LED Fog Light Swap

Swapping out the dim incandescent H11 fog bulbs in your 2013 Mustang to LED H11 bulbs will immediately create a brighter, whiter light. This light will more closely match the pure white emitted by the factory HID headlights.
