We've obviously done a lot of videos showing you how to do LED lighting upgrades on your late model Mustang. Today's installation though is definitely one of the most unique I've seen yet, this is a stainless steel intake cover with your choice of either a red, blue, or white LED built into it. This is made by American Car Craft, right here in the USA, and today we're going to show you how to install it using our 2015 Mustang GT.

This stainless steel intake cover is going to install on your factory intake cover using this applied double stick tape. It's designed for the 2015-2017 Mustang GT, but if you're using that intake cover on a previous model, obviously it'll fit there as well. It includes double stick tape and necessary primer or require wiring for installation. For this installation you need a quarter inch ratchet, ten millimeter socket, and wiring tools and terminals.

The first step of the process is going to be to remove the intake cover so we can install our stainless steel cover on top of it. While you can get the intake cover out from underneath the strut bar, because the new cover will be very easy to scratch putting it back on, so we're going to remove our strut tire brace to give us more room. We're just going to lift the cover up and remove it.

Before we begin priming for the installation, you want to grab the cover and lay on the intake where it's going to go. It lines up with the back corners here. Fits down there just like that. Sometimes you may have to bend this a little bit to kind of make it match the lines of the factory intake. Once you get an idea of where it's going to sit, now we can prep our intake cover.

You can see it's basically going to sit here, on these rails, then back here so I'm going to take some alcohol, clean all the areas where the double stick is going to touch. The cleaner it is, the better it's going to stay on.

Grab the adhesion promoter included with the kit. You're going to want to wear gloves for this part, or I usually do, basically just leave it in the package and then rub that again everywhere where we're going to get some double stick tape. You don't want to get this stuff on your fingers.

With it prepped, you remove the red adhesive backing from the double stick. Make sure the wires are out of the way in the back. Sort of line it up again starting with the back corners.

There's a couple different ways you can wire this. In our case, we're going to wire it to a switch we're going to hide under the hood. That way, you can turn it on when you want to. It's not going to be on all the time when the car is running.

We're going to disconnect our battery before we start doing the wiring. In this case, we're actually going to disconnect the negative and the positive, then we can get this wire up so we can move the brace easier. Then you can put the cover on. Going to make our power and ground connections at our battery. Again like I said, we are using a switch. There are other ways you can do it, I think the switch is going to be the easiest.

The power wire we're going to fish over here, the fuse box where the power connects to it. Since we're under the hood, you can mount the switch wherever you like. In our case, we have a double stick tape switch, going to put it right here next to the fuse box.

Okay, now before you reconnect the positive on the battery, you're going to want to lay your strut tower brace back in place. Start by reconnecting the power, and then connect the ground. Before we hide up our wire, make sure it works properly. There, it works like it's supposed to, now we're going to hide all the wires. With everything working now, we can reinstall our strut tower brace. Reinstall our battery cover and the installation is finished.

All right, so I sort of have a confession to make here. When I heard light up intake manifold cover, I definitely wasn't thinking it was something for me. Installed on the car though, I actually like it. Like I said, this is available in red, white or blue, that's a really nice custom touch to your car as well.

The installation is pretty straight forward, there is some wiring, but this is no more than an hour install, so you'll be back on the road in no time.
