Installation Videos

Video Transcript

I'm here with a 2017 EcoBoost Mustang we built for the SEMA show this year in Las Vegas. Because this car was a Ford performance booth car, we couldn't show you the car before it was finished. We know you guys love your install video, so we made sure we recorded everything as we built it. Today we're going to show you how we installed our Anderson composites custom side skirts. These custom rocker panels side skirts from Anderson composites will be direct replacements for the factory plastic pieces on all 2015-2017 Mustangs. They're made of real carbon fiber and have a high gloss finish, and they'll be direct replacements using the original hardware. While the Anderson pieces are direct replacements, as you can see, they're a much more aggressive fitment and much wider than the factory panels.

Begin the installation by removing our factory side skirts. To do that, they're held in by pushpins. We're going to start with the ones underneath. There's 1 more pushpin clip here in the back, just use a small screwdriver. The only thing holding the side skirts on now besides some plastic clips are going to be metal rivets. There's 1 in the front and 1 in the back. There's a couple ways to get these off. You can pull the splash shield off from the top with a drill. I'm just going to take a pair of cutters, just slide them up in there and cut the rivet. With everything else removed, the only thing holding the skirts on now is some plastic clips. Simply pull away from the body, it'll pop right off.

Now we can install our Anderson Composites carbon fiber splitters. Obviously, the car has been painted. It's going to look a lot better than the original plastic pieces, and going to be direct replacements, just a little bit wider. Get everything somewhat lined up and just slide it in for now. Earlier we had drilled out the rivets here. We're going to replace those with hardware.

This hole here is going to line up with that hole there. It's going to be hard for you to see. What I'm going to do is I'm actually going to put the stud in from the bottom, then you can tighten the nut down. Doesn't have to be super tight, just snug enough that it doesn't move. Reinstall the panel, and these 3 push clips. We're going to do the same thing in the back. Carefully put a bolt up through it. Probably go from the top, a little bit easier. With the hardware installed, now we go back and grab the original Christmas tree clips, put them all up into place. You want to align and splash it up with the bottom and install the front clip. With everything mounted now, we're going to reinstall the factory winglets on the back. You'll have to trim these a little bit and make them clear. Repeat the process on the other side and your installation is finished.

It was truly an honor for Ford to choose CJ Pony Parts to build this car for their Ford performance display at this year's SEMA show with high quality Ford performance parts, along with high quality parts from Anderson composites and COBB, we built a Mustang that we are truly proud of. If you're lucky enough to be attending this year's SEMA show, make sure you check out the Ford display and come check out our Mustang.
