We're going to give this 2018 Raptor a stealthy improvement in off road visibility.

The F-150 Raptor is an amazing off road truck right from the factory, but it could use some help lighting up the trail at night. So today, we're going to be installing this Baja Designs LED Grill light.

This is Baja Design's 30 inch LED grill light bar, for your 2017-18 F-150 Raptor. It comes with heavy duty steel brackets that attach to a 30 inch S8 combination light bar to your Raptor, for a significant improvement in off road visibility. But maintains a subtle look by installing it behind the grill. For more information and pricing, click the link in the description down below. Now, let's get to the install.

The tools you'll need for this installation: 8 millimeter socket, an extension, 1/4" ratchet, 10 millimeter socket, 11 millimeter socket, 3/8 ratchet, 4 millimeter Allen key, flathead screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and basic wiring tools.

In order to install this grill light, the grill has to be removed. To start off, we're going to remove all the clips on top of the grill. This radiator cover can now be removed, once all the clips are off. Just connect these two connectors. And then also disconnect your front camera washer. Spread this black clip, and this piece will come out. Remove the two securing clips for the harness. Remove the four 10 millimeter bolts that secure the shutter to the core support. There's also four clips that secure the grill to the shutter that have to come out.

This next part can be pretty nerve racking if it's your first time doing this. But you have to grab this head light panel, and pop it out of its clips to gain access to some hardware that's back here. Okay, this panel does not need to come off completely, you just need to make it loose, like this, so you can get access to the hardware. There's three clips on each side of the grill that have to be removed. One here, here, and a third one way down here, on each side. There's an 8 millimeter bolt way down back in here on each side of the grill that secures it. You need to remove that, and then the grill will come out. Once everything is disconnected, lift up on the grill, then pull it out.

Make sure when you go to set this down, you got to have something nice and soft that won't scratch the front of this grill. There's seven 10 millimeter nuts that need to be removed from the shutter to separate it from the grill. All of the studs are coming out, instead of the nuts. So when we go to reinstall this, we'll have to reinstall the studs, but remove the nuts. Because as you can see, the nuts are still on, but the grill is separated. It's hard to see, but there is an 8 millimeter bolt in the center of the grill. There's a connector on the bottom that you have to disconnect. Disconnect this connector from the shutter, lift it up, then you'll also have to disconnect this temperature sensor down here.

We can now assemble our light bar. This bracket will be on the driver's side. This bracket will be for the passenger's side. Thread the nut onto the light bar, and tighten it down with an 11 millimeter socket. Don't make it fully tight just yet. You want to leave it a little bit loose so you can adjust the light bar if you need to, just like that. Install the upper brackets onto the shutter, just like that. You'll see it will line up with this nut right here. And then get your light bar installed as well, then you can attach the two brackets, with the provided hardware. You're going to use the longer bolts that come in the kit for these two holes, and the shorter bolt will get used here.

Install the bracket on the other side, and then tighten everything down. Use a 10 millimeter socket, and a 4 millimeter Allen key to tighten this down. We're going to use the zip tie that comes with the kit to zip tie this wire to the bracket, to keep it away from the shutter system. And then you're going to want this wire to come right here, through this notch in the shutter. If any of these gold studs are still in the shutter system, put your 10 millimeter socket on the nut on the backside, then hold the stud part with a pair of pliers, and then remove the nut.

Do this same process to any remaining studs. With the studs removed from the shutter, you can reinstall them into the grill. Pull out their plastic tabs, thread them in, and put this back into the grill. And do that for the rest of them.

Place the shutter on top of the grill. Line up all the studs, and reinstall all your hardware the same way that you removed it. Reconnect the temperature sensor that's down here on the bottom. Reinstall the grill. Reconnect the clips on the side. Reinstall this small 8 millimeter bolt near the headlight. Do the same thing for the other side of the grill. Reinstall the headlight panel. Reinstall the clips and bolts on top of the shutter system.

Reattach these two connectors, and your washer hose. Next is the radiator cover. And the last thing we need to do is wiring. Wiring this light up is going to be pretty simple. We're going to take the supplied harness, and the black wire just needs to go to ground, either on the chassis or the battery. And then this white wire, we're going to wire this to our auxiliary switch one for the Raptor. That's going to be this green and white wire, and then if you want to utilize the amber back light of this light, you can take this green wire, and run it to one of these switches. We're going to put it on switch number five.

We're going to hook the green wire of this harness up to this brown and white wire. So this will be switch number five. We'll attach our ground back on this stud. Put the white and green wire into the splicer, you might need to pinch on it with pliers to make sure that it properly clicks. Next, we can move onto this green wire. Okay, once you connect the brown and white wire to the green wire, crimp the connector. Now, our wiring is complete.

All right, let's test it out. We'll do the amber first, and the white. Oh yeah. Okay, we got this Baja Designs 30 inch grill light bar installed on our 2018 Raptor, it definitely significantly improves the lighting output of this truck at night, but it doesn't make it look over the top. I'd say give yourself two to three hours to do this, and before you know it, you'll be heading off roading.
