CJ Classics Fuel Pump with a Filter for 1965 Mustangs with a 6-Cylinder Engine.

This CJ Classics C3AZ-9350-Y Fuel Pump comes with a filter and fits 1965 Mustangs with a 6-cylinder engine. This is an original style diaphragm pump that mounts to the engine and has an OE look and feel to it. This all-new fuel pump has a lightweight, durable construction and comes with a filter canister, gaskets and all the hardware necessary for installation. The inlet and outlet ports are properly positioned and sized correctly for effective fuel flow and transfer from the fuel line and into the carburetor in your 1965 Mustang with a 6-cylinder engine.

The camshaft in a 170 or 200 6-cylinder engine has an extra eccentric lobe that operates a lever on the pump, either directly or via a pushrod, by pulling the diaphragm to bottom dead center. When this happens, the volume inside the pump chamber is increased which causes the pressure to decrease. This allows fuel to be pushed into the pump from the tank and then a diaphragm spring pushes the fuel into the carburetor for combustion. This process is a pivotal proper engine function and should not be overlooked.

I ordered this part a couple weeks back. The lever in this picture looks nothing like the part I got in the mail. The part I received has a longer lever. - almost an inch longer. Can I install this safely without causing damage to engine?

Asked by: BobfromBurlington
Compare it to your original pumps lever if it is available. Check the packages part number, it should be c3az9350y.
