CJ Classics 4.5-Leaf 1" Drop Mid-Eye Leaf Spring Kit for 1965-1966 Mustangs.

Adding 4.5-leaf springs to your early model Mustang will provide a firmer ride than 4-leaf springs, but not as harsh as 5-leaf springs. In addition to an improved ride, this setup helps prevent wheel hop and axle wrap during hard acceleration. For those looking to lower their car's center or gravity, the mid-eye mounting lowers the rear of the car about one inch. Your new springs are finished with a steel-gray paint to more closely resemble OEM appearance, this kit includes everything needed for installing driver and passenger side rear leaf springs. Don't wait and order your new leaf spring kit now from CJ's!

Kit Includes:
- CJ Classics leaf springs
- Front eye bolts
- 4 U-bolts
- Complete rear shackle kits

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 1 inch drop leaf springs for 65 Fastback If you have a lift and a friend; it's a fairly easy job. Recommend lubing all bolts a couple of days in advance; did that a few times before starting the change over and did not have to cut any of them. My 65 had original springs and was rubbing tires when going over bumps (also the bushings really dry rotted ); no problems now,.and with the CJ's sale I saved a few more bucks ( had gotten a estimate at a spring shop and they wanted between $600 and $800.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jalopy no more. 66 L6 Mustang had a real jalopy feel to it. Bounced around squeaking. Shocks were not old and stopped the bouncing but it still responded to any bump. With 2 200lbs passengers in the back seat, the rear end bottomed out on the rubber bumpers. I liked the lower look the car had so got these knowing the regular springs would take it a lot higher. Soaked the bolts for several days ahead of time. Maybe that helped, but still had to cut the front bolts as they were seized inside the hardened bushings. Took 5 sawzall blades each side. Love the way this car rides now. Thought I'd have to do front springs also, but the whole car feels fine now. These springs aren't too stiff and I can carry the same passengers in back seat without bottoming out and I still don't feel like I'm looking up as I drive. Raised the car 1" measured at each tire from where it was before repair. Photo attached for you to see what a 4.5 spring looks like next to factory 4 leaf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect height. Nice height! It gives a great ride. It also really cleans up the back end.

Are the shackle bushings rubber or Urethane? If I'd rather have the Urethane, can they be added to the kit and have the rubber ones removed?

Can these be used with the gas adjust shocks (KG5517). Currently already have lowering blocks with stock springs, would I need those anymore?

Asked by: Trink
These will work with the gas adjust shocks. The only way to know if you will need the lowering blocks is to install the new springs and see where your ride height is, since the existing springs could be sagging.
