These VHX gauge instrument cluster assemblies have many attributes that make this the supreme modification for your '87-'89 Mustang’s gauge display, including appealing fully lit needles, backlit faces, user-customizable display feedback and a LCD message center. The message center implements a smooth numerical display for your gages that can be easily scrolled through with a push of a button. It will also show your odometers, a clock and a variety of performance readings that can be manually reset while driving. These readings feature a high speed recall, high RPM recall, 0-60 MPH (0-100 KPH) time, 1/4 mile time and 1/4 miles end speed (trap speed).
Additionally, you will be notified in this message center of any potential problems that may be occurring with your '87-'89 Mustang. This LCD message center also features a Demonstration Mode that allows you to get your instrument information while your car is parked, making for a great way to show off your system at a show or event. You'll also have the option of being able to switch to metric conversions in case you want to use KPH rather than MPH.
Gauge Displays Include:
- Fuel Level - Empty-Full Analog, 0-99% Digitally
- Speedometer - 0-160 MPH Analog, 0-255 MPH Digitally
- Oil Pressure - 0-80 PSI Analog and Digitally
- Water Temperature - 140-220F Analog, 0-300F/0-150C Digitally
- Tachometer - 0-8,000 Analog, 0-9,990 Digitally
- Voltmeter - 8-17 VDC Analog and Digitally
The gauges come with a black alloy style arrangement that is amplified by your choice of a visual appealing red, white or blue light display. This light display works from a built-in illumination that activated in the evening once the Mustang's headlights or parking lights are switched on. You'll also have your various indicators displayed, including your check engine, turn signals, cruise control, high beams, parking brake and wait to start (when equipped).
Furthermore, this gauge assembly comes with a micro-controlled precision stepper motor, as well as laboratory-grade, solid state sensors that produce unprecedented accuracy. These sensors work with your 1987-1989 Mustang's oil pressure, water temperature and speedometer pulse generator, while the rest of your gauges & displays work with any OEM or modified sensor. The speed sensor is fully programmable to numerous tire sizes & rear-end gearing, and can adequately convert a mechanical speedometer wire to digital when necessary. The oil pressure & water temp sensors include 1/8" NPT sensors, as well as bushings to conform to 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" NPT.
- Control Box
- 36" CAT5 Cable
- Ford Speed Adapter
- Universal Sender Pack
- Turn Signal Harness
- Indicator Block-Off Lens
One of the additional components that come in Dakota Digital's gauge instrument cluster assembly is an outboard control module that makes the installation and running of your system drastically easier. Rather than routing all of the individual wires straight to their instruments, they are simply routed to the control module, which is conveniently placed under the dash. Then a single ribbon cable is wired from the control module to the display, erasing any potential mess. This VHX system also has on-board diagnostics that make troubleshooting easier, as well as terminal strips that make sure the termination of a wire is properly safe.
*Instrument bezel is not included (sold separately).
