Father and son, Ken and Scott Callison, founded ididit in 1986. In 1983, Ken was asked by a friend to make a billet aluminum steering column. A friend of that friend saw the billet aluminum steering column and asked for another, and so on and so forth until, by 1986, the ididit business was born. It didn't have a name, though, until Ken and Scott attended a trade show to display some parts. It was there that Ken met a prospective customer who had trouble believing that Ken had made all of the parts on the table, until grabbed the customer and yelled, "I DID IT!!" From then on, their growing company was ididit. Ken's wife joined ididit in 1987 as its first full time employee and president and, as ididit grew, Ken finally retired from Ford in 1994, devoting all of his time to his company.

Today, ididit remains a family business, led by many members of the Callison family. The company is located in suburban Detroit, Michigan. Ididit currently makes over 900 different steering column products for hot rods, classic cars and muscle cars, including many for classic Ford Mustangs. Every ididit steering column is American made, and many, including those for the Mustang, are available in several different finishes. Ididit is also very active in new product development, frequently expanding their product lines with new steering columns for dozens of new models for a multitude of applications coming on the market each year.
