Product Description
Ididit Ford Style Direct Swap Tilt Steering Column for 1965-1966 Mustangs with Rack and Pinion Steering or a Borgeson Power Steering Box.
Enjoy many miles of smooth cruising when you add the convenience, comfort and reliability of a new steering column built specifically for your classic Mustang. Ididit's Ford style steering column is a direct swap, just add your stock Mustang wheel to the top of the column and the gripping surface of the wheel will be in the same location.
This column is slightly shorter than the standard column which allows it to work with an aftermarket rack and pinion or Borgeson Power Steering Box. Included with your new column is a floor mount to secure the lower half of the column to the floor. Save your original under-dash mount to secure the column to your dash. Installation also requires 2 u-joints and a short steering shaft to connect the column to the rack and pinion. Use one of Ididit's installation kits to make installing the column to the rack and pinion system a breeze.

*Part number HW2916 is the u-joint that connects the steering column to the short steering shaft, part number HW2921.
*Part number HW2868 is used to connect the ididit steering column to a Borgeson power steering box.
*Manual rack and pinions from Flaming River or Rod and Custom require a 9/16"-26 spline u-joint, part number HW2918 or FR1709DD.
*Power rack and pinions from Flaming River require u-joint FR1789P.
*Power rack and pinions from Rod and Custom require a 3/4"-36 spline u-joint (HW2917), or a vibration reducer joint (HW2920).

Bill: We’re here with an update on our Project 50-30. Thanks to Ridetech Rod & Custom and Baer Brakes, our front brakes and suspension are pretty much all finished. The next system we're going to work on now is going to be the steering. Josh is going to tell you about the column we are going to use.
Josh: First we got a column from I Did It. It's a nice steel column, it's a tilt, it's going to be for a ... it doesn't have an ignition built into it because we're going to have a dash mount ignition, obviously, on this car. It comes with your handles and everything for your turn signal levers and to control the tilt function. We're going to modify it to add electric steering and Bill will explain that to you next.
Bill: One of our goals in 50/30 is to keep the car modern. We go with the Coyote Power Plant, we figured the modern Coyotes have electric steering, so we're going to do the exact same thing. We use a system here from EPAS. This is going to mount under the dash and actually go in the middle of the column, basically like this, so there will be nothing under the hood visible and this will be completely underneath the dashboard. This is controlled by its processor here, that actually creates electric steering. Uses electricity to actually move the column, to move the rack, which is why we went with the manual rack with the system. Control box here even comes with this controller, allows you to adjust the sensitivity to steering. While both of these parts are perfect for a custom built like 50/30, one of the nice things is it can actually be used on any '65 or '66 Mustang. This column will fit both manual or power steering cars and an excellent way to upgrade to a tilt wheel. Electric power steering kit can be used, again, on a manual or power steering conversion. Gives you a nice upgrade to electric power steering.
