Professional Mass Air Systems, also known as PMAS, built this intake to be a direct replacement for the factory one on all 2015 through 2017 Mustangs with the Rousch or Ford Performance Phase 1 Supercharger. Features this large inlet tube, reusable power stack filter, 120 mm mass air meter, and this sealed box as well. They designed this kit to flow as much air as possible to the blower but also keep it as enclosed as possible.
For this installation you'll need 1/4" ratchet; 8 mm socket; 9 mm socket; 10 mm socket; an extension; Philips head screwdriver; 4 mm Allen key; and a T-20 Torx bit. Basically we're replacing everything from here forward so the first step in the process is to remove the original piece. We'll start with this bolt over here on the inner fender that holds the air box down. Next we'll disconnect the throttle body. Now we'll disconnect the hoses and then the mass air sensor. Pop the red tab and pull it off. Now we'll pull up and sort of twist and pull the air box out of the car. Then the last part we need is this little rubber grommet from the bottom.
Begin installation on the table by assembling the mass air housing itself with the filter. Just slide that over, grab the provided nuts and we're going to tighten these down. You don't have to crank on these too tight. They can strip from the filter fairly easily if you over tighten them. With the filter installed now we can install the mass air sensor itself and this will only go on one way and use the provided hardware.
Now before we put the air box in, I'm going to take this little grommet we removed from the factory piece and sort of work it in the hole at the bottom here. Then we're going to take the inlet tube and just carefully work it through this opening here. It's a tight fit but it will go through. Just sort of seat it like that, put the pipe through and install the silicone coupler for the filter and meter assembly. Put the meter and filter down into place. We'll leave the clamps now loose so we can adjust it when it's on the car.
Now we're going to put the whole assembly now down into place. We'll make our connections now. Make sure the sensor and mass air housing's where you want it, now we can tighten these clamps next. We're going to fish the mass air wiring harness now around the front here and we'll also plug that back in. Now reinstall the bolt over here that will hold the box to our factory location. Now we can move on to the lid. Okay now we'll put the shield on top here.
I mean first off the PMAS Intake looks killer under the hood. It really adds a nice custom touch to the engine bay. But best of all, these intakes are getting popular with tuners because of how repeatable the performance is, so we know we're going to get some horsepower out of it as well. Now again, this will require a custom tune before you drive the car so you want to make sure you have that planned out, but overall the installation's pretty straight forward. It'll take about an hour. You'll be back on the road in no time.
