PROFORM Wedge Locking Header Bolts 1.181" Long Set For LS Engines With 3/8" Flange

Lock your exhaust headers into place with a set of grade 8 hardware from PROFORM. Each of the 1.181" Long Wedge-Locking Header Bolts (66755) is permanently assembled with a pair of special washers. The self-locking design prevents bolt-loosening rotation; however, the bolts can be untightened normally with a wrench. The Header Bolts fit LS Engines with a 3/8" Flange.

How exactly does the Wedge-Locking design function? When the bolt is torqued to 28+ ft-lbs, the washer's super-hardened external teeth bite into and clench the bottom of the bolt head and the top surface of the header. Each washer's interfacing, matching cams create a wedge-locking action so the bolts won't come loose. 

Since the wedge-locking strategy uses tension instead of friction, contact with oil promotes the wedge effect. When it's time to change headers, simply loosen the bolts with a wrench, lubricate them and reuse them.
