This PUTCO Luminix light bar is made right here in the USA and measures 20 inches long, with 18 super bright LEDs. That'll significantly improve off road visibility. It directly bolts to the hood hinges, with high-quality steel brackets and hardware. So today we're going to install in on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Tools you'll need for this installation, T-47 Torx bit, five-millimeter hex key, 11-millimeter socket, three-inch ratchet and basic wiring tools.
All right, installing this hood light bar is very straight forward. First thing you need to do is grab yourself a T-47 Torx bit and remove the two bolts on each hood hinge. If this is your first time doing this you might need to hammer the Torx bit into the bolts, because they are painted and it can be pretty tight. Then grab one of the brackets in the supplied hardware and install it onto the hood hinge. Then tighten them with a five-millimeter hex key.
You can now remove the two bolts on the other hinge. Now grab your light bar and the other bracket and assemble them together. Put the rubber washer on. Then the metal washer and the nut. Then install the light bar into the other bracket. Now you can mount this bracket to the hood. Then you're going to go on the other side and install the washers and nut as well. Tighten the nut with an 11-millimeter socket. Then put the rubber cap on the nut and now you're ready to wire it up.
Now there's a couple of different ways you could wire this up, so we're not going to show you how to do it. You could use the harness that comes with the kit or wire it up to a switch spot that you have, or another system. But we're going to wire ours up to our trigger system.
All right, we've got our PUTCO Luminix LED bar installed. It is incredibly bright, especially for how compact it is. It's a lot smaller than many other LED bars. Installation's super easy too. It should only take you about 10 to 15 minutes to get this actually installed, plus wiring and before you know it, you'll be heading off road.
