2024 Shelby Super Snake Specs and Features

The S650 generation is off to a strong start with impressive special editions like the Mustang Dark Horse from Ford and the Saleen 302 Black Label. So, it's no surprise that Shelby American would release their own performance edition to celebrate the beginning of a new Mustang generation.

The 2024 Shelby Super Snake is an exclusive special edition that pays homage to Super Snakes of the past while pushing the Mustang into the future.

Shelby American revealed the 2024 Shelby Super Snake on the Barrett-Jackson auction floor in Palm Beach, Florida to an international audience. With so many eyes on the 2024 Super Snake, let's see if it lives up to the hype.

2024 Shelby Super Snake Performance

The new Super Snake is an absolute beast under the hood. According to Shelby American, the 2024 Super Snake makes 830+ horsepower from a Whipple-supercharged Gen 4 Coyote 5.0L V8. While we don't have torque figures just yet, it's safe to assume that the new Super Snake will push you into your seat. In order to cool this impressive powerplant, Shelby American completely redesigned the cooling system of the S650 Mustang. The new Super Snake comes equipped with what Shelby calls the "Extreme cooling system" consisting of an upgraded radiator, heat exchanger, and various ducts that redirect wind for optimal cooling.

The engine wasn't the only thing that's been upgraded on the 2024 Super Snake. Shelby American replaced the standard 2024 Mustang half shafts to handle all of the extra power. They revamped the stock suspension to allow the 2024 Super Snake to corner swiftly and sharply when on the track. The aluminum wheels found on the 2024 Mustang have been replaced with forged magnesium wheels and performance-spec tires to lower unsprung weight and enhance performance.

Shelby also upgraded the brake rotors on the 2024 Super Snake to ensure it can come to a stop effectively with all of that extra power under the hood. Plus, they collaborated with Borla to create a custom exhaust system with high flow and an aggressive exhaust note. If you decide to get a manual Super Snake, you’ll get a Shelby short throw shifter and one-piece drive shaft as well.

2024 Shelby Super Snake Exterior

Shelby was intently focused on air management and cooling during the development of the 2024 Super Snake and this can be seen when looking at the wide-body kit.

This wide-body kit replaces everything from the front fenders to the rear splitter with carbon fiber upgrades. If you go with the coupe, you get a large carbon fiber rear wing, while the convertible comes equipped with a rear duckbill spoiler instead. You also get an aluminum "Super Snake" vented hood with hood pins to complete the look.

As for paint colors, the 2024 Super Snake is available in six primary colors and four stripe colors. The confirmed primary colors include Race Red and Shadow Black, but the 2024 Super Snake also comes in blue, white, silver, and a second, more muted red. The only stripe color named so far is Velocity Blue, but you can also get white, black, and gray. These options can be mixed and matched to create your ideal Super Snake.

2024 Shelby Super Snake Interior

Moving inside the cabin, the 2024 Super Snake features redesigned, Shelby-branded leather seats with Alcantara accents. These seats, along with the rest of the interior, feature iconic Shelby design features like snake scales and stripes.

You also get embroidered floor mats, a serialized dash plaque, Cobra puddle lamps, and a Shelby shift ball if you get a manual. The convertible also comes with a light bar for extra visibility.

When is the 2024 Shelby Super Snake Available?
