Where to Jack Up Your Truck in the Front

At the front of your C10, place the jack in the center of the cross-member between the front wheels for a solid lift position.

For front jack stand locations, follow the frame of the truck and place the stand where the frame levels out. This will typically be around where the body mount is located.

Where to Jack Up Your Truck in the Back

From the rear of your C10, the best place to position the jack is beneath the differential.

If you have an aftermarket sway bar installed, you may need to place a block of wood on top of the jack to make sure it clears. You do not want to lift your C10 using a sway bar as the pivot point!

For the rear jack stands, follow the frame rail to the flat section near the rear axle. It is usually much better to jack a truck using the frame rather than something like the axle.

Important:Before you let the jack down, it's important to make sure the jack stands are even.

Basic Safety Recommendations

Safety is an area where you shouldn't cut corners to save money.

Invest in a Solid Set of Jack Stands

If your jack and jack stands are rusty or wobbly, it's time to replace them. This equipment should be rated for your C10's weight. Make sure to check your truck's user manual for lift weight recommendations.

Only Lift Your Mustang on Flat Ground

Make sure your C10 has as much support as possible. The jack and jack stands should only be used on solid, level ground.

Make Lifting Your C10 Easier with Some Basic Accessories

Now that you know the jack points on your truck, consider picking up some equipment to make working under your truck a bit easier. Jack pads and jack stand pads will help protect your truck’s frame from scratches.

Also, if you only need to lift the back of your C10, invest in a set of wheel chocks for the front tires. This will prevent them from rolling while you lift.

However you choose to approach lifting your C10, make sure to be smart and test its stability before you do any work underneath. With proper safety in mind, you should be fine! For any of your C10 restoration needs, check out our Chevy C10 parts page.
