How to Install New Taillights on a 2021+ Ford Bronco

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Trim removal tool
  • 10mm socket
  • 8mm socket
  • Ratchet

2021-2026 Bronco Taillight Installation

Step 1: Remove The Interior Panel Clips

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the interior panel clips behind the taillight.

Step 2: Remove The Remaining Panel Clips

Use a trim removal tool to remove any panel clips that do not come out with the screwdriver.

Step 3: Remove The Trim Panel Bolts

Use a 10mm socket to remove the bolts securing the interior trim panel.

Step 4: Remove The Interior Trim Panel

Pull the trim panel straight away from the vehicle.

Step 5: Remove The Quarter Panel Corner

Pull the corner of the quarter panel outward and slightly upward to release it.

Step 6: Remove The Fender Flare

Flip the retaining tabs to the unlocked position and pull the fender flare straight away from the Bronco.

Step 7: Remove The Lower Taillight Bolt

Use a 10mm socket to remove the lower taillight mounting bolt.

Step 8: Remove The Side Taillight Bolts

Use a 10mm socket to remove the side mounting bolts.

Step 9: Remove The Paint-Matched Trim

Pull the paint-matched trim piece straight away from the vehicle.

Step 10: Remove The Taillight Mounting Bolts

Use an 8mm socket to remove the bolts securing the taillight.

Step 11: Disconnect The Wiring Harness

Unplug the factory wiring harness from the taillight.

Pro Tip: Disconnect the wiring harness before removing the taillight from the Bronco. This provides a little more room to work.

Step 12: Remove The Factory Taillight

Pull the taillight straight out of the vehicle.

Step 13: Connect The New Taillight

Plug the factory wiring harness into the new taillight.

Step 14: Position The New Taillight

Place the new taillight into the body opening.

Step 15: Install The Taillight Mounting Bolts

Use an 8mm socket to reinstall the taillight mounting bolts.

Step 16: Reinstall The Paint-Matched Trim

Press the paint-matched trim piece back into place.

Step 17: Reinstall The Taillight Bolts

Use a 10mm socket to reinstall the side and lower mounting bolts.

Step 18: Reinstall The Quarter Panel Corner

Press the quarter panel corner back into place.

Step 19: Reinstall The Interior Trim Panel

Align the trim panel and press it into position.

Step 20: Reinstall The Trim Panel Bolts

Use a 10mm socket to reinstall the trim panel bolts.

Step 21: Install The Retainer Clip Bases

Insert the bases of the retainer clips into the trim panel.

Pro Tip: Remove the center screw from each retainer clip before installing the base. Once the base is seated, reinstall the screw to lock the clip in place.

Step 22: Secure The Retainer Clips

Tighten the center screws to secure the retainer clips.

Step 23: Reinstall The Fender Flare

Press the fender flare back into place and rotate the retaining tabs back to the locked position.

Step 24: Repeat On The Opposite Side

Repeat the installation steps on the passenger-side taillight.

Pro Tip: Be careful when removing trim panels around the swing-out tailgate to avoid damaging the wiring routed through this area.
