What Is the Stampede Edition Mustang?Last Updated August 4, 2019
One of the best things about being a Mustang enthusiast is learning about — and perhaps even owning — one of the many special-edition Mustangs that have been released in the past 50 years. In 2006, Ford dealers in Texas and Oklahoma offered a special Stampede Edition Mustang as part of a Ford Motor Company marketing campaign intended to help increase Mustang sales in the southwestern United States. Only 500 Stampede Edition Mustangs were produced in all.
Building Upon the Pony Package
The Stampede Edition Mustang was a V-6 coupe featuring an enhanced Pony Package. The vehicle’s design was highlighted by 17-inch painted aluminum wheels and the distinctive pony grille, along with sporty nine-inch silver racing stripes. Gleaming chrome exhaust tips and pony spinner caps added to the visual appeal, and the rear spoiler makes the Stampede Edition Mustang appear as though it was ready for the racetrack!
As far as the inside, the Stampede Edition Mustang was equipped with the Interior Upgrade Package highlighted by six-way power seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A booming Shaker 500 audio system was offered as a standard feature, and buyers had the opportunity to upgrade to a Shaker 1000 system. Each Stampede Edition Mustang included carpeted front floor mats emblazoned with distinctive brushed-chrome Mustang badging. Additionally, each was issued with an engraved numbered plaque to verify its authenticity, a key item for Mustang collectors.

Between 1983 and 1986, the Predator Mustang was manufactured and sold through select dealerships. The brainchild of Tom Solomon, the designer involved with the Shelby and Cobra Mustangs, the Predator Mustang is one of the rarest and most sought-after Fox Body Mustangs due to the limited production numbers.
Offered throughout the '90s and early 2000s, the Saleen S351 added some upgrades to the Mustang GT that allowed it to better compete against the Chevy Z28 and Pontiac Firebird. One of the biggest upgrades was introducing a 5.8L V8 engine, with a few refinements, to increase the horsepower to 371 and torque to 422.
Ford celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Mustang in 1984 by bringing back the GT350. The limited production run Mustang featured only cosmetic upgrades such as a darker red interior, special badging and front air dam. Compared with other years the GT350 has been released, it's easy to see why this model doesn't get the same reactions.
