Ridetech Coilover Suspension Kit With Strong Arms HQ Series Front 1967-1970
Ridetech HQ Series Front Coilover Suspension Kit with Strong Arms for all 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 Mustangs.
Improve the ride quality of your 1967-1970 Mustang with this new HQ Series Front Coilover Suspension Kit with StrongArms, courtesy of Ridetech. This kit has been designed and built from superior quality materials to deliver an impressive suspension kit that improves ride quality while lowering your Mustang's ride stance.
Ridetech coilovers offer ultimate ride quality, handling performance and are incredibly simple. HQ (Handling Quality) shocks are a step up from Ridetech's RQ (Ride Quality) coilover shocks. HQ shocks feature a completely altered internal design and adjustability. Each knob contains 26 positions for you to be able to adjust between a soft or firm ride for your 1967-1970 Mustang. Pairing this set of 1967-1970 Mustang front coilovers with Ridetech's compatible rear coilovers to gain total control over your Mustang (65RHQ).
Ridetech HQ Series Front Coilover Suspension Kit Includes:
- Two (2) Ridetech Front HQ Series Coilovers for use with StrongArms
- Two (2) Ridetech StrongArm Upper Control Arms for use with Shockwaves or Coilovers
- Two (2) Ridetech StrongArm Lower Control Arms for use with Shockwaves or Coilovers
Superior fade free performance and great ride quality come from this kits mono-tube construction. The impact forged aluminum body with an anodized finish provides superior strength and reliable service that is hard to match. A 5/8" chrome shock shaft moves a 1.834" piston that dampens the total travel of the suspension. Oil leakage is eliminated by use of a double sealed rod guide and a dust cover. The height adjuster uses a specialized clamp and fine threading for easy adjustability. Also, there is no set screw to ruin the threads on the shock body. Also included are a 1/2" bore x 1" Kevlar lined bearings for noise free operation and CNC machined billet hardware.
Ridetech uses superior quality, 2-1/2" coil springs that have been crafted and assembled using CNC machined, cold wound high tensile steel. This method allows for a decrease in the weight of the coilover, an addition in resistance to bowing and bending, and an increase in the amount of travel in the coilover. Increased travel in the coilover offers a smoother, more enjoyable ride. Ridetech has engineered these springs to make your 1967 Mustang handle to the best of its ability.
The Ridetech StrongArm is a specially engineered solution for ball joint binding, shockwave installation and frame clearance problems that can sometimes become a problem with Mustangs. This set of tubular control arms has been built with performance and durability at the top of the list of requirements. Development of this kit was performed on actual 1967-1970 Mustangs, ensuring that the fitment and performance problems have been properly addressed and taken care of. StrongArms offer superior performance to OE replacement equipment and are built with all of the care and experience you have come to expect from Ridetech.
StrongArm control arms are jig welded with .219" wall drawn over mandrel (DOM) tubing for a proper fit, long lasting strength and reliability. Optimized ball joint angle ensures no binding during extreme suspension travel. StrongArms control arms have been designed with the least amount of components as possible, in order to keep things simple. The black powder coated finish creates long lasting appearance that also protects. StrongArms are preassembled with ball joints and bushings ready to be bolts into place.
The upper StrongArm cross shaft lowers the pivot point of the upper control arm. Lowering this pivot point allows for an increase in camber gain. This also helps to keep the tire on the surface of the road when you're pushing your Mustang through hard corners. The drop in the pivot point is built into the control arm cross shaft so that no other modifications are needed. All these upgrades are achieved in a bolt-on part, making installation incredibly simple.
The lower StrongArm eliminates the strut rod with an ingenious one-piece design. Ridetech has swapped the original rubber bushings used to attach the strut rod to the frame, with an all new bearing assembly. This bearing setup cancels out the compression that is sometimes experienced during hard braking or cornering. Lower arms use an eccentric eliminator, this plate has multiple positions to be used when aligning your 1967-1970 Mustang. Once a position has been chosen and are set, you will not need to worry about your alignment moving. Any fine tuning that may be needed can be accomplished with the upper control arm, as it is now fully adjustable.
The improved design of the suspension starts with the positioning of the frame mounts and the height of the spindle. The fore and aft positioning of the ball joints have been adjusted to allow for extra caster potential. Ridetech makes sure the wheel is properly positioned within the wheel-well, making sure that 18" wheels will be able to fit into position without a problem. Ball joint camber travel has been re-centered to accommodate for the new, lowered ride height. This keeps the ball joint from binding up during extreme suspension movement. StrongArms are optimized to allow for proper camber adjustment with a lowered ride height, this eliminates the need to use any alignment shims.
Please Note: Lower control arms will not work with Kelsey Hayes style brake Calipers. The caliper contacts the lower control arm and decreases the turning radius.
