Today on CJ Pony Parts, we're going to be installing a small part that's gonna make a big difference on your Focus ST and Focus RS.

The factory clutch pedal spring on the Focus ST and RS has a high spring rate and makes it feel disconnected and less enjoyable to drive, so today, we're gonna be installing this Steeda Clutch Spring kit on our 2013 Focus ST.

This Steeda Clutch Spring kit is soon to be a direct replacement for the factory clutch spring on your 2013-18 Focus ST and your 2016-2018 Focus RS. It will give you improved pedal feel and control with its lower spring rate so it doesn't force itself back up as much as the factory one, but provides the perfect amount of return for an improved driving experience. The best part is, it's super easy to install, so let's get to the installation.

So installing this clutch spring isn't difficult, but it is gonna be a little uncomfortable. What you have to do is get into the car and then either get on your back or on your knees, and then get access to the clutch pedal.

So, here's the factory clutch spring. What you need to do is get a pry bar or a flat-head screwdriver and lift up on the bottom of it. Then, once you lift it up, you need to move it towards the middle of the car, out of its groove, and the spring will pop right out.

Okay, so as you saw from that last clip how quickly this popped out, that just shows you how stiff this spring is. Here it is on the table. It's pretty hard to compress by your hand. It is really, really stiff, and the Steeda spring is not hard to compress at all. This is gonna give us a lot better pedal feel.

What we have to do, is get this spring out of this factory assembly. To do that, you can either hold this spring with a vice, so it doesn't fly out on you, or you can put two zip ties around the spring to hold it in place so it doesn't fly out and hurt you.

We're gonna be using these zip ties just to show you that it can be done without using a vice, just in case you don't have one.

Now, these two zip ties will make it a lot safer when pulling this apart.

Now we can take our Steeda spring and install the provided bushing, and we're gonna install the bushing end on this part of the factory assembly, and then press them back together. Look at how much easier that is to compress than the factory spring. This is gonna make this Focus feel a lot better.

Now you can install the spring assembly the same way that you removed it, and our installation is finished.

Okay, so we got our Steeda Clutch Spring installed. I do like it a lot more than the factory one. It lets you modulate the clutch a little bit easier, and it gives you a better feel.

Install was super simple and straight forward. It should only take you about 15-20 minutes, and before you know it, you'll be heading down the road.
