Dougs Headers

Product Description

Dougs Headers 1-3/4"-2" Stepped Design Ceramic Tri-Y Headers for all 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 Mustangs with a 351W Engine.

These will not work with the original style clutch linkage on a manual transmission, you must upgrade to a clutch cable conversion. Every header from Dougs Headers is tuned with the proper tube size and length to efficiently remove all the exhaust from each cylinder, reducing pumping losses resulting in a dramatic increases in horsepower and torque. Dougs Headers are carefully developed for the vehicles they are intended to fit and are re-checked numerous times during the design and manufacturing process. Tri-Y headers yield maximum power from off idle to 4500 RPM, making them well suited for maximum mid-range torque.

These Dougs Headers come with all the necessary mounting hardware, collector reducers, premium gaskets and detailed installation instruction sheets. The extra thick gaskets are rated up to 1100F, pressures to 3700 psig (255 bar) and are designed for an exact port match with all Dougs Headers.

Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (MCTBC) is simply the best header finish on the market and comes standard on all Dougs Headers products. MCTBC protects and extends the life of headers by creating a thermal barrier that significantly lowers underhood temperatures and protects the substrate metal from thermal fatigue. After MCTBC is applied, it is polished with a vibratory finishing process that produces a high luster aluminum appearance. This coating is easy to maintain and will last for years under normal operating conditions. The polishing process compresses and activates the coating, which increases the surface hardness to produce a finish that is 60% more corrosion resistant than an unpolished surface.

*These headers have a 1-3/4" to 2" primaries that go into 3" collectors.

Dougs Headers Tri-Y 351W 1-3/4"-2" Stepped Design Ceramic Coated 1967-1970 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit I bought these headers for my 1967 mustang with a 351w, I remember doing alot of searching and found that long tube headers in a 67 mustang with a 351w would hang way too low, and I didn't want shorty headers either, these were the only headers I could find that were at least 1 3/4 pipes (didn't want to go with skinny headers either) that seemed like they would fit for my application. I found these Tri-Y Mid Length headers (never heard of Mid length before these, but these were exactly what I needed.) It was tough to find any reviews on them also (which is why I'm leaving one, hopefully this helps out) I was a little afraid to buy these because of 0 reviews, and because of the price, anyway I ended up getting the $150 cheaper version, which are non ceramic coated, just the bare metal (if I could go back in time, I would spend the extra money and get the ceramic coated ones now because they look so much better, I wouldn't miss that $150 now) These headers fit right in without any bending, heating up and hammering, or anything like that, that being said, I do believe you need to have a cable clutch conversion if you have a manual transmission because of the clutch linkage being in the way (I have a tremec 5 speed with a cable clutch conversion and everything clears) I remember being a little worried about the headers clearing the steering box, but they just barely fit around it. As far as the bottom of the headers and clearance to the ground, the collectors are set at a great height where nothing is hanging too low, it's also not too high. They are at a great spot, and they are pointing downward, so your exhaust will go down about 2 inches, then turn to go straight back under the car. My car is pretty low at the moment, enough that i've scraped my 1 1/8 inch anti sway bar on the floor, and I still haven't had any issues with header clearance. I'm pretty sure if I had long tube headers, they would be scraping the floor all the time with my ride height. Yes I would buy these headers again, I am super happy with them, I think these are the best headers you can get for a 67 or 68 mustang with a 351w.
