2015 Transmission

If your 2015 Mustang's transmission isn't able to keep up with you, there are a few ways to get better performance, improve your shifts, and upgrade your transmission.

Fix Your MT-82

Manual transmissions are usually the best choice for feeling connected to your vehicle. Controlling when you change gears lets you shape your driving experience. But unfortunately, the MT-82 transmission had a few issues. Most notably, third-gear lockout related to high RPMs. There are a bunch of ways to fix these problems, but most of them come down to upgrading your transmission so it can handle more power.

A better clutch, clutch fluid line, or short throw shifter can improve your shifting experience.

Performance Upgrades

Using a transmission cooler is a great way to improve your transmission's performance. Power produces heat, and an upgraded Mustang produced a lot of heat. By keeping your fluids, including your transmission fluid, cool, you'll be able to take advantage of all of your performance upgrades.

If you're looking for ways to cut weight and have already tried all of the easy fixes like rear seat deletes, then trading out your factory driveshaft is an option. You can get up to 50% weight savings with a carbon fiber driveshaft. A carbon fiber driveshaft will be stronger, lighter, and safer than a driveshaft made from steel or aluminum. If you're doing a lot of hard launches, this is an upgrade that may be especially valuable for you.

Even small upgrades, like replacing the plastic lock out collar, will give your Mustang's transmission a performance edge that you'll appreciate with each shift.
