Believe it or not, there are actually still S550 GTs out there running the factory exhaust system. Now, these cars being a few years old, and some of them that are even second or even third owners, many of those owners are looking for a budget-minded exhaust system for their car. This high-quality stainless steel exhaust systems are a great way to add some growl to your Mustang, and it is definitely priced right for making an excellent upgrade for your 2015 through 2017 GT.

We're going to install it on this 2016 Mustang GT. While this system is budget-friendly, it features high-quality materials throughout. It's got 409 stainless steel full construction in the muffler and in the mandrel bent two and a half inch pipe and into a 304 stainless steel bubble wall tip. Installing the axle back will include cutting, but includes the clamp, so it's very easy to do. For this installation, you're going to need a lift or a jack and jack stands, 3/8th ratchet, 13-millimeter socket, marker, Sawzall, file, and safety glasses.

Like I mentioned, it's an axle back. That will require cutting, but it really isn't a big deal. Now as far as where to cut, what you're going to do is follow the curve of the factory pipe. Right where the curve ends and it straightens out is where you're going to cut. If you're not sure, just hold the new piece up here, line it up, and you can see right where you have to cut. Right now we've marked it right on the line and now we're going to cut it with a Sawzall.

Now that it's cut, slide it off the factory hangar and repeat the process on the other side. Okay. Now we're going to just basically grab a little file here just clean it up. Make sure there's no burrs on it. All right, now you want to put a clamp over the end of the pipe. Start by putting it through the factory hangar. Now that the pipe's in place now, we can tighten down the clamp. All right. You want to repeat the process on the other side and your installation's finished.

All right. Seeing as this exhaust looks good, now let's hear how it sounds. Yeah, it's starting out with just an idle. It has a much deeper tone than the factory exhaust. It definitely has a nice deep tone, especially down low. Actually, it carries it even at a higher RPM. Our stainless steel axle back has a nice rich deep tone to it. It's a great way to add some extra growl to your 2015 through 2017 GT. I'm sure it'd sound even better with a resonator I believe added to it. The installation's pretty straightforward. A simple cut. Figure in about no more than a half an hour. You'll be back on the road in no time.
