These custom paddle shifter extensions will fit all 2015-2018 Mustangs with the automatic transmission. They're much larger than the factory ones, but install easily with double-stick tape, giving a much more performance feel and a much better look overall. They're built with aluminum and available in black, silver or red. They're also available in carbon fiber. As we're going to show you, they're very easy to install.
The paddle shifter extensions include a downshift and upshift paddle. They're very easy to install. They're going to fit, basically over the factory paddles. They look a lot better, plus it's a much larger surface to actually shift with. As far as the installation goes, there's no tools required. All you need is some double-stick tape.
What I'm going to do is grab some good quality double-stick tape, like Scotch, 3M, something decent, and basically where you see these lines, this is the section here that's most important. You can put a little piece over here if you want, as well. Don't get it into the curve, though. Make sure it's only on the flat section.
To prep the factory paddle for installation, we're going to basically put some alcohol on here to make it stick better. But if you're doing this installation in the winter time, like we are, right now it's about 12 degrees outside, and the car just came in, and this is ice cold. If this is cold, it's not going to stick. We either want to let it warm up to warm temperature, or grab a heat gun, hair dryer, even use your hand and just warm it up before you try to stick it on.
Rubbing a little bit of alcohol, just rub it on the back. Carefully peel the backing away, then we'll line it up. Just press and hold it for about 30 seconds or so. Make sure it's seated properly. The nice thing with this, too, is when you're driving, you're pushing towards the tape, so it's not like it's going to push it off at all. As long as you get a good adhesion the first time, you won't have any issues. And I'll repeat the process with the other paddle. Once you have good adhesion, then your installation's finished.
The paddle shifter extensions are obviously very, very easy to install, and add an almost exotic super car look to our Mustang's interior, plus they're a lot more functional than the factory ones. All you're going to need for installation is a little bit of rubbing alcohol and some tape, take you no more than about five minutes and you're back on the road in no time.
