All the pieces are available in kit form or they're available separately, but the fuse box cover and the fuel rails are going to be a perfect match for the factory intake manifold found on your 2007 and up Mustang. The manifold cover that we're going with is a unique piece offered by CPC. It is designed to mimic the look of the 5 liter engine found in the 2011 and newer Mustang, but still keep true to the 4.6. While we're there we're going to install a throttle body cover as well.
For this installation you'll need the supplied eighth inch Allen key, quarter inch ratchet, five sixteenths deep socket and a short extension.
We're going to start over on the passenger side. The first piece you're going to install is this stainless steel bracket. They are side specific and they are stamped to make sure you have the correct side. The first step is to remove this harness off the two studs located on the cam cover. Once you get it on the stud then the harness is going to go back inside. You going to press the tabs back on.
I've got to remove the two studs to the fuel rail. I'll start by pulling these plastic tabs off. Next remove the studs. Install the new fuel rail cover and reinstall the studs. Be careful not to over tighten it, as it is plastic you're tightening up again. We'll reinstall the front stud only. Now you'll line up the outside of the cover with this stainless steel bracket. Bolt them together using the supplied screws.
Now we'll move on to the driver's side installation. First step, disconnect this tube that goes to the intake from the cam cover. Simply slide up on the green tab and slide it off. I'm going to remove the dipstick to give us a little more room to work. Just like on the passenger's side we're going to start by pulling the two clips off the studs on the cam cover, just slide the bracket down into place.
The driver's side will only be installed with the rear stud here, so again we'll pop the cover off and remove the stud. Be careful with this line, it does go to your fuel pressure regulator; if you disconnect the vacuum, it messes with your fuel pressure.
Now we're ready to slide the cover into place. We're going to turn this bracket on the fuel pressure line here. Turn it up to get as much clearance as possible underneath. We're going to reinstall the stud. We want to leave the clip off this stud as the stud will be used for manner intake manifold cover. Now we're going to attach the cover to the bracket with the supplied hardware. Once the cover is bolted down, we'll reconnect the hose that we removed.
Now we're ready to install the intake manifold cover. In the case of our '05, I already had a cover on it in the past so it has the studs already installed. If you have bolts in place of these, the kit includes the studs. You'll want to swap these out before you install the intake manifold cover. We'll start by sliding on the two front studs. We'll line it up on the backside.
Now we're going to install the throttle body cover. We'll take the supplied nuts, put them on a couple turns and get them started. Slide the cover over and tighten them up.
The last step is to install the fuse box cover. We use the supplied alcohol to clean the surface. Now we'll take the supplied double-stick and put it in the four corners. Let's place the cover on top and push down and our installation is finished.
Our dress up kit looks great and gives our engine that finished look we were going for. Installation should only take you around 45 minutes. You'll be back on the road in no time.
