If you subscribe to our YouTube channel you probably seen we've done quite a few videos on hood struts for the S550 Mustang. The reason we've done so many is a lot of options available, plus hood struts are a very popular upgrade and something that a lot of first time installers can easily handle.

The CPC NXT Generation hood struts were very popular in the previous models. When it came out with ones for the S550, we had to get our hands on a set. Today were going to installed them on this 2016 Mustang GT. The CPC NXT Generation Hood Strut Kit is an easy bolt-on installation that uses all factory hardware. It includes two brackets for the hood, two brackets for the fenders and two strut assemblies.

Like I meant, the installation is pretty straightforward and uses all Factory hardware. The only tools you're going to need are a ratchet, 10 millimeter socket and the 13 millimeter socket. We're going to start with this bolt right back here.

You want to grab your brackets for the hood and the fender. We'll start with the fender brackets. Both brackets are going to label the driver and passenger, to make sure you get the correct bracket. If you get the wrong ones it's not going to work.

Put the bracket down in place and then reinstall the factory Hardware. Now we're going to move up to the hood, remove two nuts off the hood hinge. Make sure you hold on the hinge, it will move. It's actually not going to go anywhere. You want me to keep it aligned.

All right, before you install the bracket grab this little stud here for the washer nozzle. We're just going to pop that off and reinstalling factory hardware. Now move the washer head over to the new hole. Now we can grab our strut. We'll grab the strut with the body up.

First thing we're going to do is snap it on to the lower stud, lift the hood up and clip it on there. You want to repeat the process on the other side. As you can see, the hood can move. It has a little bit of adjustments. What you want to do, there actually be a paint mark where is what was initially. Try to get right back there before you tighten it up.

Then obviously once you get the hood installed, the hood struts are finished. Going to slowly lower the hood. Make sure your alignment is still good, and adjust if necessary. Once you check the hood, make sure everything's lined up. In my opinion, the last up here would be to remove the factory prop rod.

With the hood struts installed, now you can put the hood roughly about halfway up, let go and the struts will take the rest of the way up. I'll admit I was a little worried about how far back does brackets where when we first installed them. I was worried about the angle but actually works really well.

The struts pulled it up great, plus it gives you a lot of room to work on the side of the car. The installation is pretty straightforward. It uses factory hardware, which does make it easier, just make sure the hood doesn't move around too much when you're stalling it. Double check the alignment before you slam it shut. Figure no more than about 20 minutes, be back on the road no time.
