If you like the look of a little bit wider Mustang, but don't necessarily want a full blown, wide body kit, this Wheel Well Arch Kit from California Pony Car might be just what you're looking for.
This Wheel Well Arch Kit from California Pony Car includes all four pieces. It's made of ABS plastic right here in the USA. This will provide a subtle, wide body look to your car and comes in OEM Matte Black Finish that can be painted if you'd like to make it match better.
This is going to be installed using hardware and double stick tape.
The CVC Wheel Well Arch Kit, there are labels, so make sure you grab the correct one, because they will look very similar. There's going to be F for front and then DRV for driver.
Like I mentioned, the Wheel Arch is going to install with double stick tape and some hardware. The first thing we're going to do is remove the bottom most pin from the wheel well. We're going to replace that with the supplied hardware. That's going to hold on the bottom and double stick tape will hold it to our fender.
To get the clip out, just get a small screwdriver. Sort of work your way under it and pop it out.
What I recommend doing here is take the clip you just removed, remove the center section. We're going to put it into our wheel well. What we're going to do here is use this as a holder to know exactly where it's going to fit on the car.
Then we're going to hold this in place and use some tape to give us an idea of where we have to actually clean to install our double stick tape.
Put a little bit of it on the edge, just so you can get an idea, so you know where to clean. Grab a supplied alcohol pad. Thoroughly clean the edge.
Grab the supplied primer. You're going to snap it and shake it up. Around the edge, where we know our tape's going to go. Once you put that on, you're going to wait a couple minutes, three to four minutes probably. Let it set up before we install the double stick tape.
We're going to remove the tape now. Get it out of the way. Now we'll install the Wheel Well Arch with the new clip. What you'll want to do is peel this back a little bit. Pull it away from the car. Peel back some of the tape. Apply firm pressure all the way across it to get the tape to set up.
Moving on to the rears, you do not have to remove the wheel. You can do it with the wheel in place. We're moving it so you can see what I'm doing a little bit easier. What we're going to get out of there is right here, this lower plastic plug has to come off. Make sure you get the plug itself, both pieces.
Now we'll install a provided J clip. This is going to go over the hole in the plastic bracket behind the shield here. What you'll want to do, just push it aside. Get in here with your hand. Push it aside. Now you can see that hole right there. Take the J clip and slide it over.
Now we'll do the same thing again we did with the front. Lining up where it's going to go. Use whatever you want to hold it in place. Put a little tape on it. Grab the supplied alcohol pad. The first thing we'll do is clean the area. Grab the supplied primer. You're going to snap it and shake it up.
Now, what you'll want to do here is go over the area where the tape's going to stick, right on this edge here. Go with the primer. Let that set up for a few minutes. Peel back the upper quarter of the tape, just the very top, so you have something you can get a grip on. Just like that.
Now, we'll install the screw. We'll put the screw through the washer on the outside, then the spacer. Leaving just a little slack in the screw, line this up, peel the tape, and tighten it down. Get it snug.
Repeat the process on the other side and your installation's finished.
While obviously not a wide body kit, the CVC Wheel Well Arches do add a wider look to the back of the car, but also do a much better job of keeping rocks from kicking up to our paint. The installation, as you saw, is very easy. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver. Figure about half an hour to 45 minutes, be back on the road in no time.
