When it comes to fiberglass hood, nobody has been in the game longer than Cervini's. Based out of New Jersey, they've made high quality hoods for years, that I've had on my Fox Body, multiple different cars. So it's definitely an excellent choice for this S550 as well. This is their new Stalker hood. It has an aggressive style hood scoop in the front, and a pair of custom hood vents on the sides. It's also finished on the top and bottom. It makes a really nice hood when it's installed. This can be installed without hood pins, and we'll use all of our factory hardware. Now the Stalker hood is gonna ship in a white gel coat finish, ready to be primed and painted for installation. We had ours painted prior to installing it.
For this installation you'll need a 3/8" ratchet, 10 millimeter socket, 13 millimeter socket, small plastic pry bar, and an extra set of hands. Our first part of the installation is to remove some stuff from the factory hood. Remove the catch here, and then remove this cover. Our Cervini's hood is going to include new hardware, so you will not need to reuse the original. To remove these, just use a little plastic pry bar or something like that, to get underneath and pop them off.
With the hood cover off, now we can see the washer line here. Pop these little clips off. Now to get these off here, there's a little metal ring. You sort of have to either use your finger, a little screwdriver. Just remove the ring, it will pop off. Now we're ready to remove the hood itself. Obviously, this will take extra people, because we want to hold it because of the size of it. There's gonna be two nuts on each side. Remove them, and we can remove the hood.
All right, with the hood off, we're gonna remove the washer nozzle. Basically just pull this corner edge out right here, and they'll pop off. The last thing we're gonna need from our stock hood is gonna be this seal. Again, it's held on by some little push pins. Use whatever tool just to pop them off, and they'll come right off.
Okay, now we're ready to install our hood with the bolts provided. Again, you're not gonna use the original hardware. Once you have the bolts on, don't tighten them up all the way. Just get them snug, because obviously there is some adjustment here. We want to get it lined up better before we actually tighten them all the way down. With the hood lined up properly, now we're going to install the catch, and make sure it's aligned.
All right, the next step is a little bit tricky. You want to remove all the mounting clips from the washer hose from the factory. Now the hose, we're gonna feed it through the Cervini's hood to the proper locations. What we're gonna do now is feed the washer nozzle through. Then we're gonna connect it to it, so it will go further up into the hood, once it's actually mounted. We're gonna do that with both of them, before we push them up into place. Once the hose is connected, now you can slide these up into place. The nozzle is mounted, now we can reinstall the original hood seal.
Before we install the hood scoops, I'm gonna go around the edge here with a little bit of rubbing alcohol. They install with some 3M double stick tape. Doubt that we'll have any issues, but better safe than sorry. I have a nice clean mounting surface for the tape. To align this scoop up, basically you want to get centered over the opening, and push the tape down into place. Your installation is finished.
Now this looks a million times better than the previous attempt. The Cervini's Stalker hood looks great on the front of the car. It has a nice aggressive line to it. It's easy to install. The fitment is excellent. Figure overall, it will take you normally about an hour to put it on. You'll be back on the road in no time.
