The chin spoiler will install easily using all factory mounting locations with supplied hardware. CDC includes detailed instructions and 3M Acrylic Bonding Tape to help properly finish the installation. Novice skill is required for this installation.
The spoiler comes in ABS plastic and is ready to install. This particular model's going to fit your 2005 through 2009 GT. CDC does offer a version for your 6 cylinder car as well. Comes with all necessary hardware including push-pins, adhesion promoter, and double stick tape.
This installation needs a Phillips head screwdriver, scissors, and a small piece of 80 to 220 grit sandpaper.
You want to start the install by getting your car off the ground. You can actually almost do it on the ground, but it's easier to have some height. 2 factory screw you're going to use are going to be right here on both sides. You can take the wheels off to get to them if you need to. We found by turning the wheel outward, you can get to them pretty easily. Now repeat the process on the other side.
Now we can prep the spoiler for installation. You want to put it upside down. This top edge here all the way across is where we're going to put our double stick tape. We're going to start with some sandpaper and scuff it a little bit before we start installing. I'm using 220, but anything 80 to like 220 should work fine. Just enough that you want to get it scuffed. After you scuff it, we're going to clean it with the supplied alcohol. We're going to take that same alcohol pad to the surface of the paint where the double stick is going to go.
Now, we'll use the supplied adhesion promoter and put that again where the tape is going to go on the edge here. You want to let this set up for about 30 to 45 seconds then we can install the tape. This does not have to go on the body of the car, just on the spoiler.
Now, we'll install the double stick tape, again starting at the edge here. We'll peel back a small corner and leave that out front. It’ll be easier to get the tape off once we install it on the car.
One of the things nice about the CDC spoiler is that it fits the car so well, you can install it and it will actually stay in place without any hardware. Makes it easy to line it up. Basically, start at this corner, get it up into place.
Now, we'll reinstall the factory screws and move along to the pushpins and finally the tape. I'll repeat the process on the other side. The pushpins are going to go through the spoiler into the factory holes on both sides. Line it up and just press it into place.
Now, we can remove the tape. Push down and slide your hand back and forth to make sure it's actually stuck to the bumper and actually sticks quite easily. Your installation is finished.
The Classic Design Concept chin spoiler looks so good on the front of our Mustang, you'd think it was a factory part. Fit and finish is excellent and the installation couldn't be easier. This is something you could easily do in your driveway in less than 30 minutes. You'll be back on the road in no time.
