To install these new LED cargo lights which will be going here and here, we need to remove this whole third brake light assembly using a T20 torques bit. These are the T20 bolts that we will be removing. Now, you don't have to do this next part, but just for the sake of the video, we're going to completely take off the third brake light assembly. Installing the new LED bulbs is very simple. Just simply grab the old bulb, wiggle it out, take the new LED bulb and push it in, Now, we're going to test this bulb to make sure it's actually working. If it's not working, simply pull it out, give it a twist, and then put it back in. It should be working properly.
To test these bulbs, all you have to do is open up the door and it's working. Now, we can reinstall the whole assembly. Now that both lights are working, we can reinstall the third brake light assembly. There are two tabs on this light that you need to line up before installing the bolts. Make sure you line them up, then you can reinstall the four bolts.
Now that all four bolts are tightened, your installation is complete. Here you can see a side-by-side comparison of the LED versus the incandescent bulb. On the driver’s side, we have the new LED cargo light and on the passenger side is the incandescent bulb. The LED bulb is much brighter and it looks a lot better than incandescent bulb. Our LED cargo lights are installed. They're a lot brighter and look way better than the original bulbs. All you'll need for this install is a T20 torques bit or a 7 millimeter socket. Installation should take ten to fifteen minutes and before you know it, you'll be heading down the road.
