Now to install these new LEDs, the tail light has to come out, and in order for the tail light to come out, we have to remove these two 8mm bolts on the side. We removed the two 8mm bolts securing the tail lights, but it's still held in with a couple of clips. Just grab on to the tail light and pull towards the back of the truck. This will take some force to pull it off.
Now I don't necessarily have to do this, but for the sake of the video, we're going to completely remove the tail light. Now installing the new LED bulb is as simple as just pulling out the old bulb. Wiggle it out. Get your new LED bulb and put it in. Now we're going to test it. If we go to test it and the bulb does not work, simply pull it out, twist it around, and then it should work.
Now we're going to test the LED to make sure it's working properly. We're going to do three tests. We're going to make sure that it's working with the tail lights, which it is. Make sure it's working with the turn signals, which it is, and also the brake.
Now we can reinstall the tail light. Now we can reinstall the bulbs, the brake light where this brown connector goes on top and this reverse light where this green connector goes on bottom. Now when you go to reinstall the tail light, make sure you line up all three of these tabs before pushing it in.
Then reinstall your bolts. Now repeat the process on the other side and your installation's finished. All right, so we have the LED on the driver's side and the incandescent bulb on the passenger side. We're going to give it a test with the tail lights and now with the brake light. As you can see, the LED is much brighter than the incandescent bulb. Our new LED tail light bulbs are in. They look great. They're brighter than factory. All you'll need to do this job is an 8mm socket or wrench. Installation should take you about 15 minutes, and before you know it, you'll be heading down the road.
